Question Where to stay in Kona area for first timers

Good afternoon everyone. Ive narrowed my search down to the Big Island (Kona area) for our first Hawaiian trip. Hoping to do a mix of a few 'must see' boat dives (manta, etc.), and shore dives. (we dive Bonaire alot and im spoiled to sleeping in and doing shore dives). I was reaching out...

Sounds great. Ill look into Southwest as well, especially since they usually dont advertise their rates on alot of search engines. thanks!!

    First time to Hawaii

You'll love it. It was our go to, but we lived in Texas at the time so flights were easier for us. Bonaire diving will spoil you (as you may have heard). Pretty easy to get 20 dives in a week if your wanting to (or 10 and take it easy)

    First time to Hawaii

Thanks!! Im looking into the prices now, and so far it looks like a better option to go straight to HNL, then take the 45 min flight to Kona.

    First time to Hawaii

Were going to be flying out of Salt Lake. It appears that there are non stops to Honolulu. Do y'all usually find better rates by island jumping once there, or jumping to a location with nonstops to Kona (LAX, SFO etc)?

Laid back and non - commercial is what we typically look for. Lots to research for sure.

    First time to Hawaii

Thanks!!! I’m sure we’ll want to do some str seeing, but since we’ve never been, I’m sure any of the islands will be a best experience.

    First time to Hawaii

Thanks!! What exactly is live boat diving? I saw that referenced on one of the local dive shop pages.

    First time to Hawaii

We were looking at the first week of September. We could only do one week, so I wouldn’t want to lose time or days by changing hotels /flights etc. I’ve done that in places in the past, but usually when I have a longer trip to work with.

    First time to Hawaii

Good afternoon , I’m in the process of looking up options for a Hawaii trip ( first time). This has probably been asked before, but didn’t see it. We tend to like smaller locations, less traffic, vrbo style setups etc. Mostly caribbean divers. Lots of bonaire , Cozumel , Roatan we are...

Best ways to find a deal?

Yea. We love bonaire. Airfare tends to be the biggest expense of the trip. Curacao looks a little cheaper, but we’ve never been. My wife is a non diver, so the liveaboards probably wouldn’t be a good fit. We’ve looked into some of them, as she enjoys relaxing and unwinding. Cocoview was a...

Best ways to find a deal?

Good evening. We frequently dive the Caribbean ( from the states) and I was just curious what everyone does to find deals, Especially on airfare. We tend to do vrbo/Airbnb ( over resort type visits), but we always here those travelers who pay much less than we do. Is there certain...

ideas for strobe setup (arms/base etc)

thanks! I'm torn between the backscatter strobes and the S-2000's from INON,since their a tad more powerful. The backscatter models seem smaller, which will lessen my footprint/travel issues. As in all things, life is full of choices. I have the housing covered, so I just need to narrow down...
