    Email notification T. U.

Is there some reason I suddenly stopped getting Email notifications to subscribed threads? I don't think I changed anything in my profile settings. TIA chris

    Hell & high water

Well, it's flood season again up here in the middle of the bald prairie. If the snow melts too quickly, there'll be much inconveniance. I have a friend who lives in a house in an older area of the city, near the river, and just before that last stupidly big crest in 97, there was a knock on...

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

I'm considering ging that route, so votes will be appreciated. (And hopefully, useful to others.) I've seen lots of people fumbling about with these things, too. Please consider the fumble factor in your vote.

    How do change your subtitle?

...I once changed mine to 'diver, luthier, landlord' - I remember it being somewhere in the user cp - now it doesn't seem to be, and I fancy changing it again. I'm just a fickle kinda guy. Where the heck did it go?

How do you delete a message?

One of my witty missives inadvertantly got posted twice and when I press the 'edit/delete' button, I only seem to get the option to edit it. So how do I delete it? TIA chris

    D/S Undies: DUI vs Weezle

Looking for opinions on Weezle 'Extreme' - doesn't exist locally and I'm finding that my DUI 400g thinsulate isn't quite up to the task when the water starts getting crunchy. I got reasonably comfy putting expedition weight undies under it but they sort of snag against the fleesy lining of...

    Your idea of ideal twins

...and no, I don't mean the kind of twins that have been sending you all those Email invitations to visit their web site. :07: (Actually, I mean doubles.) I am about to engage in a tech course and I am considering the purchase of a pair of new bottles. I am looking for recommendations in...

DIR in a city without DIR

I would really like to take the DIR-f class but the closest to me that it's offered as far as I know is about 950 miles away. (Calgary.) I am not against travelling, but is this a practical way to do it? I gather that most people don't actually pass the certification the first time around. I...

    Quotes in message threads

Going back over one or two threads I've posted in I noticed that quite often, when I've quoted someone else's remark, that later the quote has disappeared leaving the message with only my golden prose. Not a bad thing of course, but this can mean the what I've written appears out of context...

Cookies, logins and the whole damn thing

So how come the site recognizes who I am so I don't have to log in - but only perhaps one time out of ten? The fact that it recognizes me at all suggests to me strongly that the problem is not my cookie settings, etc. Any ideas?

    Good gear

Ok, this was inspired by the "Piece of Junk" thread - only in reverse. What's your favorite piece of gear? My vote has to go to my kevlar-plated "Deep See" wet gloves with the cinch straps which keep my hands operational through the worst waters - I have never wonted for dry gloves. Just awesome.

    diving with photographers

...is essentially diving solo, IMO. And yet nobody seems to teach that, I suppose because they are also trying to sell cameras. Anybody else see this as an issue?

    suggestion

I know there's supposed to be a form somewhere for suggestions, but I'll be jiggered if I can find it... Anyway, howse about a cold water diving section? The equipment and techniques are all fairly unique and specific. I would think it would make some sense. (Especially for us canucks. :D)...

    tuning for cold water

I once missed a dive due to a fairly dumb mistake on my part: I was wearing a steel tank, which I find it rather difficult to snorkel any distance with because of the top-heaviness. So while swimming on my back a few hundred yards to get to a site, I guess my first stage got quite cold – while...

    what's your sac?

Thought it would be fun to compare. If you don't know how, you need a tank, (not empty, obviously) a reg with a pressure gauge and some sort of timer. (A watch will do.) Get relaxed, sit there, start timing and breathe through the reg until you've made enough of a dent in the tank to register...

    DIR Instruction

G'day. Can anyone tell me whether DIR-style instruction begins at the beginning i.e. relatively competant human walks in off the street into, for instance, GUE wanting to learn how to dive? (Please pardon the naivitee of this - I have no way of knowing.) If so, is there a confined water stage...

    vertigo just below surface

    What are your favorite foods?

I used to say "Italian" without pausing to think but for various reasons, Winnipeg has turned into a bit of a testing ground for restaurants. We've got every damn thing. (Theoretically, if you can survive in the middle of the bald prairie, you should be able to blah blah blah so we have many...
