GUE's InDepth magazine just published an excellent article on the current helium situation worldwide with average prices, availability and future trends:
The price of Helium is up in the air
I also went out on Saturday and enjoyed the wonderful conditions. Only a few small patches between directly West of the main stairs and the monument. The majority of eggs are directly North stretching almost to the harbor entrance between 60ft - 100ft. Nice shots of the sea lions as normally...
I have a K01 hood from 2017 and have the same issue with jaw fatigue. I only wear it on deep dives now for the extra warmth. I have heard that the company redesigned the the hood to address this issue but don't have any first hand experience. I use a Seasoft 6mm Ti Pro Hood the rest of the...
I switch back and forth between a drysuit and a wetsuit often and can tell you that I definitely use more air when diving dry. Like others said, making sure the suit fits properly is key as an overly-large and baggy suit will add significantly more drag than a streamlined suit. I also add just...
I flashed version 1.18 (did the motor calibration) and dove with it for about 30 minutes this weekend. No issues were experienced so fingers crossed that the demons have been exercised. Safe Start was off.
I'm still running V1.15 and I have the same thing happen sometimes. It is usually somewhere in the middle of a dive. After being off the trigger and getting back on, it makes that loud spun-bearing noise with no movement of the prop. All it takes is for me to release the trigger and try...
I dove Malaga cove yesterday and although the near shore reefs were murky green, the outer reefs had about 20-25ft. viz. Saw lots of juvenile pyrosomes as you mentioned above as well as horn sharks and an angel shark.
Someone else on another forum measured the stand-by current draw of the Blacktip with a mulitmeter and measured it at about 200mA standby current. Assuming that's at 40V it's 8 Watts. I wouldn't put the batteries in until you're 3-6 hours from the dive unless you're willing to lose 5-10% from a...
Update - the firmware was updated to version 1.5.4 (the latest) and that fixed the issue! I would recommend to all owners to upgrade to the latest version if they are experiencing any issues.
So those were the settings I was using and it still resulted in over exposure (WB was on Auto). I emailed Paralenz and they told me to update the firmware, which I just did. Hopefully I will get to try it out next weekend and see if it make a difference.
I am currently having a love / hate relationship with my Paralenz. For natural light photographs / videos, the quality is better than my GoPro 7. For the DCC (Depth Controlled Color) setting on Green (and White Balance off) the photos / video come out better than I remember the dive (Ocean /...
Also, is it normal to get condensation along the inside of the inner suit (drycore not aircore)? I finished a dive and along the legs noticed that the lining was wet in certain areas. The undergarment wasn't wet so I don't think it was a leak. I hadn't noticed this with a previous neoprene...
I recently came across this DPV out of Europe:
DT12 – Divertug
The size, specs, lithium battery and price (1246 euros) make it look like a possible great shore diving DPV. Has anyone had experience with this one?
