    DIR/TECH divers in Montreal

Best thing to do would be to go by Action Scuba. They have doubles with back plate and wing that you can rent. Talk to Gary the shop owner about setting up a trial in the pool since its your first time in doubles. There is a pool sessions coming up the weekend of july 27th & 28th so talk to him...

Some advice for a newer diver

Generally no. That comes with time and practice. A balanced first stage will give you the same ease of breathing regardless of the tank pressure. In an unbalanced first stage as the tank pressure drops your IP will start to change which will make the reg harder to breath from. In a balanced...

Had this problem on a reg i serviced a while back with a 6 foot hose. I changed the IP slightly and re lubed a couple of the dynamic orings.

Some advice for a newer diver

Both of your regs are unbalanced which explains why you felt the ease of breathing when you tried your buddies. They are still both work horses just not recommended for cold water. The legend would definitely be a good choice for cold water diving. Whatever you end up buying stick with something...

    Oceanic Delta 4.2 FDX10 Regulator?

FDX10 is a great first stage. Delta 4 is good however it is unbalanced. I started out diving with this reg years ago and switched to a balanced 2nd stage later on. Having a balanced 2nd stage makes a huge difference in breathing. I still use the delta 4 buts its only a backup.

    Is this typical?

When under pressure does the second stage sound like it has a rattle to it. If so most likely its not tuned properly which could cause one to breath differently then the other.

    MK25's and G250v's or MK17's and A700's

MK17 and G250V all the way. Speaking from a technicians point of view the environmental seal on the MK17 protects the regs insides from wear and tear due to the all the crap that can get in. The G250V just because of its reliability and because it has less parts that can break. Don't get me...

    Montreal Bachelor Party

There are plenty of Dive shops and charters that run morning charters on the weekend in the brockville area which means he would be able to get back to montreal for 3pm or so. I think his best bet would be to do a DSD since non divers could then join. As part of the DSD course they wouldn't...

PADI Equipment Specialist - does this sound like a good course?

I took the action scuba equipement specialty course and they not only taught us how to check the ip of our own regs as well as how to do a simple cracking pressure test but they also had us disassemble and re-assemble both a 1st and 2nd stage.

Montreal Olympic Stadium 50ft deep pool

In quebec, regardless of where you are diving pool or open water a FQAS permit is required. Whether or not they will ask you is another question but they have asked me in the past.
