You may want to look into Odyssey Diving in Northglenn. Jess does the hydros for other shops and rebuilds regulators that others can''t. Since I found that out I take my equipment there.
g2,
You're right, the gravel ponds where the local shops conduct classes is Kingfisher pond. I didn't actually dive to get the temperature, I asked the fire department guys who were there conducting some training. I never ran into a thermocline there. The pond is only about 22 ft deep.
The ice has been gone for about two weeks now. I can't find in my log what the temperature is in mid to late March. 50 degrees is about my limit to enjoy a dive. We may have to wait until April.
Hi John,
I believe there has been some mapping work done on Rock Lake several years ago. I have an old phone number for one of the divers. If you PM me I'll give it to you. I have spoken with him and I don't think he would mind sharing his infomation.

Gdaaym8z,
Sorry you've been given such a view of the local dive sites. But the truth is the truth and I suspect that no one wanted to sugar coat the conditions. On the other hand I enjoy the challenge of diving here even with the poor vis. The good news is that it is close enough for a dive...
I called NM fish and game. Since they stock trout and panfish in Blue Hole Ponds I asked why not a couple dozen fish in the BH for the amusement of the divers. The guy in charge hasn't called back. Considering I have an out of state area code I don't expect to get a return call. So, for those of...

• For anglers 12-69 or nonresidents 70 and older to fish with
more than one pole in any water...
The good news: Plenty of dive shops in the Denver Metro area. Lakewood has several. You can get a good deal on a trip to Cozumel, 3.5 hours on the plane. There is a small group of people who dive the local lakes. The company is great.
Bad news: The local diving isn't very good. Bad vis and cold...
I've never been to Spring Cave. Some of the folks I know have been and say it is not something they woulk do again. The mines we looked into are not a good option either. Humping a set of doubles more than 100 yards is not my idea of a good time.
I'll own up to being a winner in the lost and left behind equipment. Lyn's jet fin is in 5 feet or less of water near the dam. With the wind pushing waves into the dam the vis was a foot or less when I tried to find the fin. I may make trip to find it later. Yes the t-shirt is mine. Thanks Tino...
