I see that there are kits with a tool to replace the original Suunto D9, but the D9tx is different. It opens up with little star head screws on the back. Has anybody tried replacing the battery on their own D9tx rather than sending it in to the service center? It would require a very small torx...
I just called Ed Robinson's place, and I will probably go with them to a place called Molokini. And they recommended I should call a company called Extended Horizons to go to a place called the Cathedral.
Dear Forum,
I will be in Maui for a week starting on August 7th.
What are a couple can't miss places that I should definately go.
What dive company should I contact to join a group and rent my tanks and weights ect?
I am used to diving in colder water in the Lakes in the North West, or...
I'm not sure if it is a Drager. It is just German prewar. But my mask is Drager. A Full Facemask Panorama Nova
I think I will go with one of those Quicklinks suggested by Diversteve.
Thanks
Dear Forum,
I'd like to get some kind of really secure connector to connect my dive knife to one of the D-rings on my harness. Probably one on the belt strap. Something that won't open up easily, as I don't want to lose this knife. I won't need to remove it underwater. I prefer things be made...
I am looking to get a dive computer that has integrated wireless air. I already have a new Suunto wireless transmitter. So all I need is the watch part.
But before I buy a D9tx, is there a better dive computer out there that has integrated wireless air and can do the technical (nitrox, mixed...
I bought a trident flag and pole to fit in with my inner tube float, and I have no idea how the flag can go on the pole without blowing off.
If I run the pole through those two metal grommets, I think it would slide down to the metal pole joint half way down and bunch up, or worse, if a stiff...
Dear Forum,
I have a couple steel tanks from the 60's. You know, the type that have the tapered threads for the valve and are a little bit rounded on the bottom...
Mine don't have the tank bottom boots. I like the way they look without them, but I can't really stand them up that easily, and I...
I am just dreaming here, but I am fascinated by these underwater hotel rooms and restaurants and such that I have seen photos and conceptual graphics of. I start to wonder, has anybody ever made one of their own? Yes I know it would cost a LOT. But wouldn't it be interesting to make your own...
Dear forum,
I have a Bodyglove 7mil wetsuit. I really like the way this suit looks. And it was not very expensive. Under $200 from what I remember. I have had it for a couple years and I have probably only used it on less than 25 freshwater cold lake dives and one salt water dive at Catalina...
Here is what I went with:
Sand blast in my cabinet
Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing paint from Home Depot
Very lightly sand and paint Duplicolor BQ910 Gray Primer Surfacer.
Rattle Can paint over the top of that.
Rattle can clear coat
Watch every year for any rust bubbles and gashes. Sand and touch up...
I have a couple old 1960's steel tanks that I just got back from Hydro and visual. I had to have one of them tumbled too.
They look kind of ugly on the outside and I would like to primer and paint them.
Paint removal:
I bought some paint remover. But I do have a nice sand blasting cabinet in...
Yea, that is totally what I am planning. I know a guy that has a machine shop out of his garage. Was just doing one last try before I put him through the trouble. Maybe I should do a few of these at the same time in case anybody else needs one or if I ever need anoter some day.
Yea, that is for a new one. I am aware of those and they are super nice, but they put me over my budget. I missed out on an older one that is probably 10 to 25 years old on ebay for $39 a month ago. I guess I can wait a few more months for another to show up on ebay, but I thought I would put...
I have an older steel tank that has a half inch taper thread yoke valve on it. And I would like to put an inexpensive (cheep, old, or used) DIN valve on there.
The tank passed hydro, and visual and I also had it tumbled all by my local dive shop. I got a bit carried away and spent a bit too...
I think what I am going to do if this tank passes hydro is try to get the cheepest deal on a DIN valve that I can. It is a half inch taper. So I will either try to find a DIN valve already configured at half inch taper, or get an inexpensive .75 DIN valve and get it machined to half inch taper...
How do I determine the the size of the threads? When I measure the diameter accross with my ruler, I get 13/16 at the top and .75 at the bottom, when I measure from the tips of the threads. Am I supposed to measure the dips in the threads? If I do that I get .75 at the top, 11/16 at the...
You are totally right about this being a sportways valve. Wow, you have a good eye. I measured the tips (points) of the threads and the bottom is 3/4" wide and the top looks like it is 13/16".
The guy at the dive shop said I need a "300 bar DIN valve". I will call XS Scuba tomorrow to see if...
