Malpelo, when to go ... ?

In the months with colder water (dec - march) the hammerheads come to shallower water. This is also the time when the Ferox can be seen but of course it is very rare. Silkies and whale sharks are more common from may to september.

Visit Thailand during CNY, and avoid tourists?

Liveaboard is not how I would do Myanmar, the islands are too beautiful to sleep on a boat. There is already landbased diving. Boulder Bay Eco Resort, Victoria Cliff, Awei Pilar, Wa Ale

Visit Thailand during CNY, and avoid tourists?

Diving in Myanmar can be combined with Thailand. You can fly into Thailand and the dives are very similar to Richilieu Rock, Tachai or even the Similans. So it can be a Thai vacation without feeling that you are in another country, except that there are no other people there.

Where in Asia should I go diving in May 2020?

A more unusual destination is Myanmar and currents for drift diving are quite common. The season ends early/mid May though. I went to Boulder Island last season and know MacLeod Island from a few years ago. Enjoyed it very much.

    Island advice please

I think the cheapest one is Boulder Island which I know personally. The other one I know from 10 years ago is Myanmar Andaman Resort. The others are too expensive for me too. I just like the fact that there are no other divers and the local dive sites are great too (and not far away). Calypso...

Would you consider crossing the border to Myanmar. The Mergui Archipelago is a great diving destination where you won't see any other divers. There are some resorts now too.

I always like to recommend Boulder Island in Myanmar. No other divers and still wild. The other one is Koh's Dach in Cambodia with Condor Reef and Shark Island but also great dive sites. But I like not yet discovered destinations and there is hardly any information about these places online...

Recent Experience with MV Andaman Diva Liveaboard

No, from the mentioned indonesian destinations only Bali and Sulawesi. Of course I am aware of the quality of Raja or Alor. 8 years ago I did 4 dives in Rarotonga. I did them on the south side in the channel. Unfortunately I dont have recent experiences. I was on Diva Andaman in 2014. It was a trip to Myanmar and Thailand for 10 nights or so.
