Appreciation for TUSA international warranty and service

I just sent this letter to TUSA Australia. I thought it was worth some wider coverage. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I bought an elements IQ-650 computer 18 months ago from overseas...

Removing the SPG from a console (Tusa SC-251)

Thanks for the info all. I have since discovered that having the SPG naked or in a boot is a bit of controversial topic! The entire console (SPG and computer) cost $200, the computer is worth that alone (at least here in Australia), so I am tempted to take my chances with the SPG naked... I'll...

Removing the SPG from a console (Tusa SC-251)

Thank you Scubanoobi, yes I want to keep using the SPG, just without the double housing/boot. The SPG body is plastic. I didn't think of needing a single boot to cover it.

Removing the SPG from a console (Tusa SC-251)

Hello! I am talking about this console. I removed the computer (IQ-650) puck from the console and put it in a wrist boot. Ideally, I'd like to also remove the SPG, so that it is streamlined, and I don't have the extra drag of a half-empty console. Does anyone know how I would get the SPG...

    Dive boots...absorbing the smell

4 days of soaking the boots in vinegar and baking soda, and then into the washing machine for a rinse, fixed the smell for me! Thanks for the suggestion.

Washing wetsuit in washing machine - top result - bad for the washing machine?

I might give it a rinse first, along with the rest of the gear, cheers for all the advice. It's so effective I don't want to stop doing it - 30 min normal cycle, cold water, no detergent or additives.

Washing wetsuit in washing machine - top result - bad for the washing machine?

So I picked this tip up from scubaboard to wash the wetsuit in the washing machine, and it gives fantastic results - the suit comes out soft and feels like new - I guess the salt has been thoroughly washed out. It made me think that the salt water may not be good for the washing machine over...

International warranty - purchased from US, warranty repair in Australia?

Yeah $25 parts and $25 minimum service charge, it was just a servicing job. I didn't push for the warranty claim as I can see it is not so clear cut in this case... if the reg had fallen apart or something then sure I would have. Cheers.

International warranty - purchased from US, warranty repair in Australia?

OK! First, thanks Zak, my apologies for hastily attributing it to a defect when the cause was not clear. I was a bit anxious, because getting setup with my own dive gear was a bit of a stretch, and I was thinking the worst. It's fantastic to get confirmation about the international warranty...

International warranty - purchased from US, warranty repair in Australia?

OK thank you awap. At only 6 months old with not many dives, it's clearly a defect, so I'm back to needed to know from Mares whether they will look at this under warranty. At least I have more idea of which part may be the problem.

International warranty - purchased from US, warranty repair in Australia?

Hi all, thanks for the information, I really appreciate it. Sorry, I neglected to mention that the primary reg (2nd stage) has often free-flowed as well, but is always stopped by turning it upside down when under water, which I thought may be fairly normal (most hire regs I used did this)...

International warranty - purchased from US, warranty repair in Australia?

Hello, I bought an MV Octopus from the USA together with a Rover 2s first/second stage and imported them into Australia. I am very happy with the first/second stages, however I have noticed the octopus free flowing at times during dives, which was tolerable, however tonight it began constant...

I didn't wash my first stage after diving .. not sure how to..

So my local tech agrees with Halocine, that the whole reg assembly should be soaked after use, and he recommended for 24 hours after each use. Also, by way of clarification, the purge should not be pressed any time the regs aren't pressurized. I did the vacuum test and I can now see that the...

I didn't wash my first stage after diving .. not sure how to..

Thanks for the help guys. I rinsed the first stage with lukewarm water and am satisfied that's OK. (I like the idea of sealing it with my thumb... will remember that next time!) Now I'm worried I might have purged the second stage / octo when rinsing them. I think I'll take the regs into my...

    Wetsuit washing

Thanks for the info in this thread. I washed my wetsuit in the front-loader on a delicate cycle, with minimal spin, and no detergent. I figure that's simulating a really thorough dunking in the bathtub. Anyway it feels really good now - a bit softer than the last time I used it (presumably...

Washed inside of BCD after diving, but don't like the idea of leaving it sealed...

Thanks again Herb. It seems impossible or impractical to fully dry the inside. Thanks for the info!

I didn't wash my first stage after diving .. not sure how to..

OK cool, no tank available, so I'll rinse the first stage but not submerge it. Thank you!

Washed inside of BCD after diving, but don't like the idea of leaving it sealed...

First dives with my new BCD, washed it thoroughly including inside. It is a Tusa BJC-6900 which has a removable inflator hose/valve, so I could potentially leave the hose off and let the inside dry out. The manual says to put the hose back on though, and everyone seems to just rinse their BCDs...

I didn't wash my first stage after diving .. not sure how to..

First dives with my own reg yesterday, and I didn't wash the first stage, because the dive shop guy yelled at me once for dunking the first stage of some hire regs so I don't know what to do. How else can I wash it? Should I bother now it's dry, and just do it next time I dive? Thanks guys!

a view from a dive shop

In my country retail prices for diving gear are quite ridiculous. I'm talking $400 for a BCD shipped from the USA that is $650 here (genuine example from last week) - there is clearly an extra layer of profit for an importer in there. So my LDS is deprived of a sale because I am not creating a...
