Sunday, the Diving community lost a friend and a mentor. Is there any information on what happened?
Seems like the lid is shut on this, making us all a bit uncomfortable.
Details are sketchy but I got a call yesterday from a boat fishing in 100 ft of water off Key Biscayne had an estimated 12 ft. Great White next to the boat. Hopefully we'll get some pix in the near future.
Nothing really new here....
1. Divers carrying no flag, or other flotation devices that have no standing as far as protection from boat traffic. Nothing more than debris in the water.
2. Too many wrung heads littering the bottom of the reef. Of course the fish love them, I'm just not sure...
In my parts it was a turkey shoot. 3 divers - 3 limits. Other boats not so much I'm finding out. Good Viz, a few patches of cold water. No current first dive - moderate eastern push with the falling tide on the second. Home before the rains started. Boat traffic was surprisingly light for...
Looks like the best opportunity will be the 6th Street Reef in Pompano Beach. Easy swim out from shore (weather dependent of course). Heard from some friends it's well populated right now!
My advice...
1. Take a drive there in advance. Parking is limited... you may need a drop off or some...
