"varnish his words"? Talk about downplaying it. I'd say a more accurate statement would be,
"Nemrod doesn't hide the evidence he was raised in a barn"
I've been on the vintage scuba supply forum since the early 2000's if it's the same Nemrod, he actually had to apologize to me once there...
What museum is that, Airleron? Sounds like a neat place to work; they must some of the rarest dive gear if that's the case. Speaking of that, what's strange is, I've got this OSS diving video, and the Lambertsen in that video is actually a different model than this other WWII one I"m working on...
Exactly. Philadelphia quarry IS a swimming pool. Unfortunately, that's one of it's problems; It's getting more popular, but the entry point is only about 6' wide in the quarry, which gives plenty of room for other divers to examine you for two years. I found out about a new quarry, Jeff's...
I might be taking this wrong but I doubt it - no two ways to take commentary like this; Quite frankly Nemrod, I don't appreciate it - it's uncalled for.
Anyway... The only way to test *some* things is when you're in the water... if your implication was my "style" as you put it is to go in the...
That was the one I was at. The sweetwater/philadelphia one (I'm pretty sure it was the same one, right? The one owned by Mike Guss). (not Loch Low-Minn in Athens)
Anyway, just to clarify, I have *no idea* if this instructor was affiliated with the dive shop where the owner Mike Guss works or...
Hahaha, you guys aren't going to believe this, (or maybe you will, it's not too hard to, when all's said and done) But just after reading this one vintage divers thread:
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/vintage-equipment-diving/305612-scuba-police-vintage-diver.html
I had the exact same...
Hi guys! Just thought I'd link this, since it's vintage:
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/rebreather-diving/390701-1939-c-j-lambertsen-rebreather-final.html#post5985814
Just thought I'd show you guys this rebreather I've been working on (it's the WWII one, fifth down from top, and eighth, too):
Photos Lambertsen
It's done pretty much. I'd rate it at about 75% historically accurate when it comes to the parts, and about 90% historically accurate when it comes...
Heya;
Honestly, I suggest just dropping your class (if you can afford it) and get private lessons (pool sessions, and open water). You can do your open water dives AT ANY TIME once you complete your pool sessions, just get the staff members your getting you lessons at to fill you out a waver...
Yeah;
I'm in NW GA and pretty much all I dive is vintage, technique included.
we're probably a distance from eachother, but not too awful far... so given that... so, if you or anyone anyone else is interested... let me know.
That's so neat that you patented your own design like that, John; thanks for sharing. Looks interesting... so this was like, modified from what you actually used in pararescue in the 60's?
I'll keep in mind what you said, as well; might add some quick releases, though the current fasteners...
Wow, that's a great looking example... so they were from an actual company (or a variety of them) back then. Strange they're so rare; I guess one reason is because most of the backpacks we see (on ebay and such) are from the 70's. I'll keep SimonBeans in mind; right now I've already got a...
Hi guys;
I have never seen any all web rigs like the ones off SeaHunt on ebay, or any other place... were they custom made for the show, or did Mike just wrap a bunch of webbing up a certain way?
About 7 years ago, I bought a USN bell harness to make a vintage style tank harness with...
LOL that was what the guy on RBworld said :)
They do look like they could extend that long, and probably could, but actually they're only 17.5 inches- when the mouthpiece is hanging down, out of your mouth, it makes the rubber stretch... and the mouthpiece doesn't even weigh all that much...
Hey there folks, just thought i'd show you this Rebreather i recently (lol... after
a couple of years working on it) got done with. Been on about 3 dives with
it so far, all in about 5-15' of water dive. Actual underwater time on it
each dive was about 45min to about 2 hours. I'd...
Ohh. Ok that explains everything... i was beginning to wonder if rubber had that "cast iron" principle, as in once it's been cast, if you want to manipulate it again, you pretty much cant - only re cast it. Yeah, that would explain the rubber burning/dissolving whilte trying to remelt it...
Well, thats glueing... i'm not really talking about that, i'm talking about actual fusion. i really didn't want to have to resort to glue, but i probably will have to, eventually.
