    GoPro declining usage?

I know, I know, I'm a total nerd when it comes to stuff like that. We play everything from Pandemic to Dead of Winter to Flash Point. Most of us forget the cameras are rolling and we all have a great time. Those links will take you to blogs I wrote of those games. Ironically, I used only stills...

    GoPro declining usage?

Yes, that! Plus the fact that I use my GoPro to sometimes record game night with my friends. I'll set up a couple of cameras around the table and just let 'em run when we play a board game. I'll edit it for the best parts and use it in my blog.

    GoPro declining usage?

I use a basic "floaty handle" setup, with a wrist lanyard. As I mentioned earlier, I'll turn it on when I hit the water and turn it off around exit. Unless something catches my eye, I'll just keep it aimed in the general direction we are swimming and not focus on any one thing. That being...

    GoPro declining usage?

I mainly use the GoPro Studio software for extracting stills and making short vids of each dive. I've been playing with Cyberlink PowerDirector 13, but it's pretty involved.

    GoPro declining usage?

Correct. The GoPro software has this feature in the "edit" step. That's one thing I like about the Caribbean. Most of the time, a light red filter is all I need, and minimal color correction once I look at it on the 'puter.

    GoPro declining usage?

At least on the Hero 3, this is done with the software, not on the camera. I try to remember to use my laminated white square and give the camera a good look at it. Later, in the software, there's a button where you can "pick" the white balance by clicking on something white.

    GoPro declining usage?

A friend of mine had a brilliant idea. I took a small rectangle of printer paper, about 4 X 6 inches, and laminated it with heavy plastic. I keep this in my BC pocket and sometimes even remember to take it out and shoot it with the GoPro for my white balance. I'll do this usually at the...

    GoPro declining usage?

Pretty much what I do, too. I'll occasionally leave my GoPro on the dive boat, and inevitably regret not taking it. I'll just record as I go and capture stills from the best parts. A dive operator who does USS Oriskany trips had the best quote about cameras, and I totally agree. "Cameras make...

    Anybody dived in Roatan recently?

My wife and I, along with several others from our scuba club, just spent a week in Roatan on the south side, right next door to the Reef House. Viz was generally pretty good, and while some sites were better than others, all of them had a good variety of marine life. The coral appeared healthy...

Key West on the Carnival Freedom, 10/22/18

Darn! I figured that would be the case. That might be the one port (Key West, Nassau and Freeport) that will be a non-diving day if we can't find anything.

Key West on the Carnival Freedom, 10/22/18

Good morning, y'all! My wife and I will be stopping in Key West on the Carnival Freedom in October. Unfortunately, we don't dock until 10 am. After doing both a Google search for "Key West dive operators" and searching here on SB (this and the Florida forums), I haven't been able to find a dive...

Rinsing and storing gear on cruise ships

Just now noticing this thread, but if you are still interested, here are a few of my thoughts: We always bring our own gear. I know how well it's been maintained and it's configured exactly how I like it. We use private dive operators instead of ship-sponsored operators when possible. On most...

May I pick your brains for a moment?

Brrrrrrr!! That's cold! I'm pretty warm natured, but my wife absolutely draws the line at about 70 degrees, wetsuit or not. Our shallow "mud holes" here in SE Texas typically average close to 88 degrees in the summer.

May I pick your brains for a moment?

Holy schmoly! This was a "real life" scenario? That alone would've made a great NF book! Zach and Ken, in my project, will definitely have some.....ummmm....."difficulties" to contend with. Just out of curiosity, hold cold is Lake Huron? I've heard all of the great lakes are pretty...

Pretty interesting read, lowviz! Reminds me of something out of the X-Files.
