    How many per year?

You better step it up. Han will have more dives than you by next year. :) Kristopher

Bye Suunto, been nice knowing you...

I was wondering how long the computer has been sitting as well. I like quality products, but I can't fault a manufacturer if the item sits for a year or more and fails as a result. Kristopher

    How many per year?

So jealous of you getting to dive in Jeddah, Searcaigh. We lived in Saudi Arabia when I was a kid and seeing the guys out diving in the Red Sea in the early 80's was actually what sparked my interest in diving. I'd love to get back and dive there. Kristopher

    How many per year?

I was out of the water for the first two months of the year here, due to some sinus problems and am just getting back into it. I'm back in school right now and not working, so I have a little extra time for diving. I've got to find a job after school is out next month. I'm hoping to find one...

Overly Dramatic Title: The Curse of The Most Experienced Diver

I agree with CamG. Show them whatever the minimum card you need to get on the boat is. Or try gently reminding them that you're not there in a professional capacity, so expecting you to baby sit other divers isn't very realistic or fair to you, since you're paying to be there. Kristopher

    How many per year?

I was just sitting here plotting my diving for the year. I suspect that I'm not going to hit as many dives this year as I did last year (~125). How many dives do you usually get in every year? Kristopher

    Save A Dive

Spare O rings, mask, gloves and hood if you require them where you dive. I would also have an extra inflator hose and a wrench to change it out with. It kind of depends. I'm close enough to the ocean that if something fails disastrously, I will just thumb the dive and straighten it out at...

    Private Certification?

You can absolutely do a certification one on one. If you call a shop, I'm sure they would be willing to set something like this up for you for a surcharge. An independent instructor is another option. I know that PADI allows their instructors to work outside of a shop environment. I believe...

convert wet hood for dry suit?

I know a few people who dive with a drysuit using a wet hood. Sometimes they have room to tuck it in, sometimes they just let it hang out. It seems to do the trick either way. Kristopher

Buy the drysuit or take the class first?

I think that taking the class and renting a couple of suits before deciding is absolutely your best bet. Not sure where you are, but does DUI do their dog days near you? You can try out several of their models there for a low price. I know there are a lot of fans of the Whites Drysuits on this...

    Playa Del Carmen Operators

I couldn't agree more. Mexico Blue Dream is a first class outfit and I highly recommend them. Kristopher

    New Faber HP100hp steel tank

I don't have any experience with this Fabers, exactly, but I love my Faber 120. Fabers seem to retail for quite a bit less than other steel tanks. There seems to be absolutely no quality difference. People love them. If I was in the market for new tanks, I'd go for it. Kristopher

    Trouble downloading from DG03

Hello, I am having a hard time downloading my logs from my DG03. I connect the cable, then go to the dive log section of the software user interface. I click the + sign to download, choose download from DC, pick my DC. I click the test button and it shows that the interface is found. I make...

    Suunto Zoop vs Hollis DG03

I own both computers. I agree with the statements of other divers that the DG03 will grow with you if you decide to do more technical diving in the future. Having said that, I feel that the Zoop is much more intuitive and overall a more user-friendly computer. It's a great starter computer and...

    Lp 85 purchase suggestions

I don't make that many dives per year, but I would tear that up. They wouldn't have that deal going for long after I cost them more than the tanks in fills during the first year. :) Kristopher

    Hello from Boston

+1 on what Lewis said. There are tons of divers up in Cape Ann. There are people out every weekend that the weather cooperates year round. You shouldn't have any trouble finding buddies in the area. Kristopher

looking for tech dive instructor in Boston area

Matt Marcoux, who co-owns the Daybreaker dive boat in Gloucester teaches AN/DP and Revo rebreathers. I have a friend who took AN/DP with him last year and recommends him highly. I haven't taken any classes with Matt, but I know him and would recommend him as well. Heather Knowles, who owns the...
