    Lipe June 2023

Three day live aboard trip to dive sites around Lipe in Satun, Thailand. Conditions were poor with strong currents, bad visibility and not much to see. I probably shouldn't have made this video, but I had time on my hands and have made a video of every other dive trip since 2013. So, here it is...

    Questions about diving Koh Lipe

My wife is a busy attorney, so we go when we can. That said, one of our best South Andmand/Lipe dives was in August, in the midst of monsoon season:

Apple Watch Ultra and Oceanic+ App

This release fixed the log sync issue that I had on my last trip. At that time only 3 of 9 dives synced from the watch to the iPhone. After updating I did a manual sync and now all 9 dives are in the iPhone logbook.

Oceanic+ - A Second Look With Serious Failures

Interesting. I upgraded to 1.1.5, did a manual sync and now all nine dives that I did on the last trip have synced from the watch to the iPhone app. Previously, only three had synced. And, the Home Screen now shows a total of 9 dives in the last 4 weeks. Previously, it just showed the three.

Oceanic+ - A Second Look With Serious Failures

I understand. What troubles me about the non-in-water bugs is that it demonstrates a pattern of failure to adequately test and verify their software. If their mistakes can cause the summary cancellation of a subscription mid-journey, or the sudden disappearance of six out of nine dives from the...

Oceanic+ - A Second Look With Serious Failures

Here are the versions I was using at the time described in the OP: Oceanic+ Version 1.1.4 Apple Watch Ultra - WatchOS 9.5.1 iPhone 14 Pro - iOS 16.5 Although the sync issue is an important one, the most egregious bug is the fact that Oceanic+ suddenly and without warning completely reset...

Apple Watch Ultra and Oceanic+ App

If I don't get at least an acknowledgment in a week, I'll use the form. The problem with the form is that it doesn't really lend itself to reporting multiple issues. And, although it allows attachments, it doesn't incorporate them into the body of your report. It seems awfully tedious to have to...

Apple Watch Ultra and Oceanic+ App

I sent an email with a full report, including attachments, to TAC@huishoutdoors.com. I also did that a couple of times in February when I first experienced a few glitches with the app, but never got a reply or even an aknowledgement. Perhaps they're too busy dealing with bug reports. If I get...

Oceanic+ - A Second Look With Serious Failures

GPS and Maps On my first live aboard trip with Oceanic+ I noticed that frequently the app was unable to use GPS to determine the dive exit point. This problem persists, although you are now given an opportunity to add the exit point manually. I’m not sure how that helps. If I could find the...

Oceanic+ - A Second Look With Serious Failures

The Home Screen of the Oceanic+ app on the iPhone shows only three dives for the “Last 4 Weeks Scuba Summary”. There should be nine. [Home - iPhone] [Operation Completed] Surface Interval For some reason the logbook is that it doesn’t display surface interval. Easy enough to calculate, but...

Oceanic+ - A Second Look With Serious Failures

My wife and I do two or three live aboard trips per year and that’s it for diving for us. Our first trip this year was in February and was the first chance I got to use Oceanic+ with my Watch Ultra. At that time it worked fine as a dive computer, although there were a few shortcomings which I...

    Questions about diving Koh Lipe

I was just at Lipe last week; diving the 17th, 18th and 19th of April. Conditions were mostly awful with strong currents (new moon) and poor to fair visibility. I didn't get enough footage to make a video of the trip. I'll post one photo I took of my wife so you can judge the visibility on your...

Trip Report North Andaman Bust - February 2023

I'm old now and my diving days are probably coming to a close so I've decided to try not worry about things like that and to just be grateful I can still get in the water.

Trip Report North Andaman Bust - February 2023

No idea. Our May trip fell through so my wife booked this trip in June. The itinerary mentions two dives at Koh Ha. That's all I know.

Trip Report North Andaman Bust - February 2023

Your video reminds me how nice it is at Koh Ha. I'm supposed to do a South Andaman trip next month which includes a few dives there. I could stay a week. Yeah, the photo of me without mask was taken at Elephant Head Rock a few years ago by a dive guide.

Apple Watch Ultra and Oceanic+ App

That seems very high to me unless you're doing an awful lot of swimming. I just looked at a recent bicycle ride: 34K with a total riding time of 1:44, average heart rate of 119 BPM and only 665 active calories. (This was a casual ride, not a workout.) By the same token, on a day that I did...

Apple Watch Ultra and Oceanic+ App

Thank you. I never would have found that on my own. Right. That's pretty much the way I had Wayfinder set up anyway.

Apple Watch Ultra and Oceanic+ App

How does one do a "quick install" of their Watch face? I'm using Wayfinder now which seems fine, but I'm a bit curious to see their Watch face.
