Otoscope for travel kit. Traditional vs digital?

Thanks. I’ve ordered the Depstech Wireless Otoscope and will report back. It supposedly is compatible with everything but we’ll see. And, oops!, the proper spelling of Welch Allyn is noted.

Otoscope for travel kit. Traditional vs digital?

I want to add an otoscope to my travel kit. When I was in practice we used the Welch & Allen direct viewing scopes but now I see digital units that interface with your iPhone. Anybody have any thoughts on these vs the traditional scopes we were trained with?

Sony FE 90mm F/2.8 macro shot with A7II in a Nauticam housing Images

Annoyingly, the SONY A6300 and the 90mm macro didn't get a fair test. I was diving off Key Largo and had only one good day, the first, in which the water was clear and calm. i used it to test the new Olympus TG Tracker. The rest of the time, the seas were were rough, the bottom was surge-y...

Sony FE 90mm F/2.8 macro shot with A7II in a Nauticam housing Images

Hey, Phil. Just today picked up the Nauticam housing and port for my new SONY A6300 and my SONY FE 90mm macro and have some configuration questions; the lense has a mechanical AF/MF slide; it appears that if it's in AF, the camera's AF/MF switch can overrule this, but if it he lense is...

Sony FE 90mm F/2.8 macro shot with A7II in a Nauticam housing Images

I have the 90mm macro lens and love it above sea level on my A7S. Below, I shoot with the A6000 and the 50mm macro with a Nauticam port that doesn't have a manual focus knob. Shooting macro, that's challenging and I await your reviews with baited breath as I would love to standardize on a full...

Sony A7s with 4k recorder housing?

I'm thinking we Sony mirrorless people will have to wait a bit longer for in camera underwater 4k. But then, we're used to waiting for adequate glass. OTOH, am currently in Bonaire shooting with the new A6000 and Zeiss 50mm macro and loving them. Life is good!

    Wetwear custom suits in Florida

My wife had a custom 3 mm suit measured by Wetwear at the Long Beach Dive show. When it arrived the resulting fit was slightly off. I shot some pictures of her in it and messaged them back to the shop. They immediately identified the issues including a subtle one my wife hadn't caught. We...

Custom Wetsuit Manufacturer Recommendations or Warnings

Another vote for Wetwear. My wife had a custom 3 mm suit measured by them at the Long Beach Dive show. When it arrived the resulting fit was slightly off. I shot some pictures of her in it and messaged them back to the shop. They immediately identified the issues including one that my wife...

Nex 7, Zeiss 24mm for flourescent night dive

Great video. I have dived with fluorescents but haven't tried filming with them yet. I use the same camera and lens w a Nauticam housing and a 4" port. Focus has been a issue, though I haven't had much experience with it. I noted you were wide open and was wondering which ISO you were using.

    Nex zeiss 24mm 1.8

There is an adequate gap between the end of the 24mm Prime and the inside of the port so scratching the acrylic is not an issue. It will be a few days before I have the time to test the lens with the magnifying filters. I'll certainly take off the UV filter before I put one or more of them on...

    Nex zeiss 24mm 1.8

Interesting, though a bit spendy. Please let us know how it works out. BTW. I've have a chance to look at my images in more detail in Aperture, not just on the iPad, and they are quite a bit sharper than I had originally thought, especially after some minimal adjustments. You can check...

    Nex zeiss 24mm 1.8

Hmmm. They should arrive in a few days and perhaps I can report next week or so. If, as you suggest, they don't help and maybe hurt, I guess it's either use a flat port or wait until Nauticam releases a dedicated Dome port. BTW. I did test out the 10-18 on land and ended up returning it and...

    Nex zeiss 24mm 1.8

Thanks. That's the port I use. Do you add any Diopter filters? I just ordered a set of HOYA 1,2, and 4 Diopter filters to see if I can sharpen up the image. I'm going to test them in a bathtub (clean of any soap) first and then in a nearby quarry when I get enough time off to go. Concerning...

    Nex zeiss 24mm 1.8

    Nauticam 4.33" Dome Port - Nex 5R

"Nauticam ports are designed for best results with the recommend lens/lenses for which it was made and trying to make one size fit all will result in less than the best image quality." Agreed. I swapped out my 18-55mm for a Zeiss 24mm Prime using the original Nauticam 4" Wide angle port on a...

    Diving The Palos Verdes Peninsula

Be looking forward to it. I sympathize with the fear of getting beat on a specialty subject. There's going to be an enthusiastic but limited market for books on specific dive sites and one doesn't want to be the guy who writes the "second" book...

    Diving The Palos Verdes Peninsula

Got it, read it, loved it. My diving has been mainly from boats in the Florida Keys but the book makes me want to go back to California to dive where early divers first got to explore. There's a reference on Amazon to "vol. 1". Gotta "vol.2" coming out?

    Diving The Palos Verdes Peninsula

Ordered and am happily awaiting it. Actually lived in PV as a kid but we moved and I never got to dive it. Hope to fix that soon but in the meantime, am looking forward to reading your book.
