    Question Full Face Mask

I assume you are referring to the M48 MOD1 I own one and have used it for In Water Recompression Training. It's an excellent mask, and in fact you can use the "pod" and install your choice of regulator in it, although I purchased mine with the original KM regulator. In an emergency you can...

Trip Report - Anilao Blackwater at Crystal Blue Resort

Great shots @jjmochi I have done many trips to CBR and like that place a lot, but my last trip was in 2018. In 2022 I did my first blackwater dive with NAD just after they opened post Covid, only two of us on the boat, it was fun and I'd love to do more.

Passport to Paradise - Northern Sulawesi

+1 on Passport to Paradise although my last trip was in 2015 with my daughter. I did however return to Bangka in 2022 and stayed / dived with Murex for a week before moving to Lembeh to dive with NAD. The reason for choosing NAD was due to my dive buddy having credit there from a previously...

Any owners of new Waterproof W5 tropical 3.5mm suit (bonus if women's model)?

I spoke with a guy called Henrik from WaterProof when he visited the region recently and he told me that there were some issues with a few of the W7 7mm suits having loose threads too and they were replacing them. The cause was some new company that was responsible for the stitching..

Any owners of new Waterproof W5 tropical 3.5mm suit (bonus if women's model)?

I have been using a 3.5mm W5 over a couple of seasons, locally I generally use a 5mm W7 until water temps hit around 27C, so it's not used too much apart from diving in Indonesia. I'm a big fan of the W7 design with the two built in pockets that are more streamlined compared to the velcro'd...

    Traveling with Gear

Back in the 90s I used to carry two housings hand baggage with cameras in situ (Tussy housing with Nikon F3 and Aquatica with Nikon F801). I removed the main o-ring to avoid any pressure issues and of course replaced it as soon as I reached my destination. I basically stored each o-ring in a...

Mini Trip Report with Photos (Anilao/Crystal Blue Resort)

I've used CBR several times now and I really like the place and the staff, although I haven't been there now since 2018. Sort of miss the place but looking to do Romblon next year.

Take your own O2 Analyzer While Traveling?

I wish I had done so a couple of years back in Egypt where I was offered Nitrox but no analyser to check the contents both at a dive op in Dahab and on a day boat going to dive the Thistlegorm. Also made me wonder if I was diving air or not too. I'm heading to Indonesia in two weeks but...

    Cebu Recommendations for Tentative Beginner?

Getting to and from Cebu city to Moalboal and / or Malapascua is time consuming. If you only have three days, stay in Cebu then dive Mactan Island, which is close by and a shore dive. We also went out to Olango on a shared bangka booked through Si Dive, who were okay. This was 2019.

    Buying eSim online

My wife and daughter used Nomad in South Korea last week, as well as on previous trips to Malaysia, with no complaints. I plan to use it for my upcoming trip to Indonesia at the end of the month.

Question Is baby shampoo really that bad?

You have a rinse tank on the boat 😯 I agree though that a small drop of baby shampoo on each lens is not going to have a major impact on the coral. Many dive boats that I've been on use it diluted in water to spray on the inside of the mask prior to diving.

Question travel muck divers - what fins do you use?

I've used Mares Quattros in the past but changed many years ago to Hollis F2s to save weight when travelling and continued to use them for diving locally. First and foremost as @Kimela mentions above b careful with your kicking when leaving the area where you were observing a critter...

    No mask, no reg swim

When I did this skill I was using my Mares fins, but I don't recall what kick I used, I think it was most likely Frog because that's the one I use 90% of the time. The instructor also used a line to guide me to my buddy, which I had in contact with my fingers but did not pull on it. Once I...

    UAE East Coast Temperatures

There's been a plethora of nudis off the east coast over the past month at most of the major dive sites, Inchcape 2, Inchcape 10, and The Blocks. Not so much at Car Cemetery 2. We dived Car Cemetery 1 yesterday, first time since December 2020, and visibility was around 15-20m, totally blown...

Diving the USAT Liberty Shipwreck, Bali Indonesia

+1 on hiring a car with driver, believe me you don't really want to drive in Bali as you need 360 degree vision to deal with the scooters. Leaving Sanur at around 05:00 and coming back after three dives, you will be exhausted. Hire a car with driver.
