Uncontrolled ascent!! - Loss of a Weight Insert for Mares Prestige BCD pocket

To anybody facing this same issue I recommend checking Don Quixote's tie wrap solution in the thread above. Worked for me!

Mares MRS Plus Weight Pouch Dropping Root Cause

Following up on related threads (Uncontrolled ascent!! - Loss of a Weight Insert for Mares Prestige BCD pocket & Dragon MRS plus dropping pocket), I had to buy two replacement pockets: both are brand new, they even had 'Made in Bulgaria' stickers on it. Both had only 2 out of 3 straps inserted...

Advice on new setup: Panasonic vs SeaLife

Hello Jason, if you are used to a dSLR on land, you'll probably find yourself limited with the Sealife. But as you pointed out, you wouldn't risk taking your SLR UW, just like I would not drag a bulky SLR on an off path mountain hike (too heavy, too much risk of breaking it), to the beach...

    SeaLife AquaPod Underwater Monopod?

Too heavy... Or too bulky? My set cam+flash are positively buoyant, so weight shan't be a problem. I bet it'll be hard to maneuver. I'm getting one and will be trying it out. But first I have to find a way to hook the Aquapod to the flash base, since the flash base screws into the same place...

Testing the Sealife Fisheye Wide Angle Lens (SL975)

Just went to a LDS to test Sealife's new Fisheye Wide Angle Lens (SL975). I wanted to see how it compared to the Wide Angle 0,5X lens (SL970). I used my DC1400, and took 4 pictures. I aligned all of them with the red thing on the right. 1-Picture without any lenses 2-Picture with Wide...
  6. Sealife DC1400 picture with SL975 Fisheye Lens.

Sealife DC1400 picture with SL975 Fisheye Lens.

Pictures were aligned with the red thing on the right, so you extra field of view appears on the left. Also notice distortion at top and left.
  7. Sealife DC1400 picture with SL970 Wide Angle Lens, zoomed in.

Sealife DC1400 picture with SL970 Wide Angle Lens, zoomed in.

Zoomed in to reduce vignetting (still apparent for comparison purposes).

Has anyone tried the Airstash (wireless SDHC card reader)?

I ended up getting one, here's my review on another thread: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/underwater-photography/412525-transfer-edit-photos-tablet-2.html

Transfer and edit photos with tablet

I finally got the AirStash and tested it out. The Airstash is a 130-150$ SDHC card reader that can be plugged into a PC's USB port (to read/write whatever files to/from the card) but it's also Wifi enabled, through which it can stream the content of the SDHC card to multiple devices (PC, iPad...

    SeaLife AquaPod Underwater Monopod?

Has anyone tried the SeaLife AquaPod Underwater Monopod? From the pics I saw it does not look compatible with the external flash base. From B&H Photo website:"The AquaPod Underwater Monopod from SeaLife is a support system for all SeaLife and other underwater cameras that have a standard...

Finally Some decent Photos from my DC 1200

Hello Roger, try to upload pix on SB that way you'll get feedback. I've taken tons of AMAZING pictures with my Sealife, with and without strobe. Just like land photography, practice and feedback will make a big difference. I see on your profile that you have quite a lot of diving experience...

DC600 Battery Life - Is There a Way to Improve?

One thing to know is that rechargeable batteries will gradually decay with use/years. I would buy 2 new batteries, this way you can replace the battery between dives. I have a DC1200 and I always change my battery between dives, because I take a LOT of pictures and want the flash to recharge as...

Finally Getting Back in the Water

Hello boomer68, glad to know you'll be back underwater! There is an ongoing debate about 'point and shoot' vs 'DSLR' cameras, both above and underwater. The key question is: how much time, money and gear are you willing to put into this? At this point you already have a great point and...

Help with focus light for dc1200

Hello lhhoback, I've looked into this and there are a couple factors to consider (hopefully others will chime in). The YS holder is a plastic component that holds the lamp and allows it to be connected to its YS connector counterpart. In the attached picture (source: Adorama website), the...

    DC 1200 File Transfer

In case someone else has this question here's the full answer to the original question: Sealife cameras have an internal memory. When no SD card is inserted, pictures are saved to the internal memory. To view or transfer those files, just remove any SD card from the camera. The camera will...

Need advice: planning first dive trip to Asia May 2013!

Hello, I'm planning a 3 week scuba diving trip to Asia this May and need advice on what places to dive and possible itineraries. If you can spare some recommendations for dive shops and accomodation that would be great too. I've been reading a lot on SB and diving sites and the following sound...
