    Maintaining depth without visual reference?

practice... a good thing to do is practice shooting bags at a set depth - keep the variance in depth as tight as you can get it (if you start at 15ffw ..stay there)... Go slow and it will become second nature. Maintaining a set depth is really all about having a stable platform to work...

Using a computer alongside pragmatic deco plans

I run my petrel but dive the plan... why not.. usually the petrel clears me of deco a minute or 2 before the plan does.

What is the future of GUE?

we have a good following in the local area.. (Raleigh NC) and are doing classes about once or twice per year. all instructors are with other agencies (myself included) but it really dosen't matter, those of us whom have trained with GUE teach with a GUE mindset and strive to set the students up...

    Fundamentals 1 & 2?

We just had 2 Fundamentals classes in raleigh, one split weekend (5 day) and one 4 day traditional. Both yielded better divers and a high level of passes at both levels (including myself as i was interning the split weekend class). I think the flexibility is good for reaching more students and...

Buy Once, Cry Once DIR rig for recreational diving

I buy Halcyon and scuba pro after moving through a bunch of other stuff. Basically because the service and quality are excellent. I had a problem with a backup light, I gave it to a friend who was headed down to FL, who then gave it to someone working at extremes exposure, it made it over to...

Snap swivel positioning on SPG/regulator hose?

Looks like we have a motley crew coming down from NC.. And Maybe Texas as well... My focus is going to be on C1 dives with a lot of line work which i need to do before signing up for C2. work stepped in the way of my normal trips to nFL, but now is leveling out. Be glad too - should be at the...

Snap swivel positioning on SPG/regulator hose?

What regulator do you use as your backup reg?

True.. which is why both of my sets of seconds are unbalanced now. But one should also service their regs which should catch the wear problem, hopefully. That is taking a leap, i know.

What regulator do you use as your backup reg?

Halo/Spro G250 or Apeks xtx200 Primary, Aura or R195 scubapro. The low spec scubapro regs work great as second- almost never have to mess with them even in 42 degree water. A high spec reg tuned down is fine, i did this for a while as well with a second xtx200) but moved it to my dedicated...

Extreme Exposure goes above and beyond!

I'm in the Same boat as litehedded - I can't even count the number of time EE, Doug, Kyle, and the whole crew there has gone above and beyond for me and anyone else i've sent in there. And for that matter Halcyon as well!! Awesome place and people all around

    Foot exercises

who do you dive with.. there is a GUE crew in TX.. The reason i am asking is normally i find that its an ass over tea kettle thing... what i mean by that is that its you feel that when your in proper trim your going to go head first down and are uncounciously moving your legs out to balance...

    Who Determines What DIR Is

tbone - i have heard nada on side mount other than some sr instructor tests (they use it when needed, usually 10k back in the cave), and no test classes after a small trial. i'm open to it but we shall see. I need to do a SM course since some of my students are diving that way and frankly i...

    Who Determines What DIR Is

No pope of DIR..anymore anyway.. but if anyone "owns" it.. its the wkpp.. which is small, inclusive and modernizing as needs dictate. If you like the style of diving (team, safety, planning, etc...) then i'd probably start diving with GUE folks and then decide from there. it's a mind set...
