Yea, well the material changed to plastic, much higher quality, and therefore much more expensive. At $50 i was losing money regardless.

    DIY Scuba Tank Rack

tflaris, to do 4 tanks total, you would need 2 racks at $50 each. if you are going to stack them vertically, you'll need the vertical stacker kit for an extra $10, so $110 total, or $100 without the vertical stacker kit. Shipping depends where you are, but should be around $30. Thanks, Ross

    DIY Scuba Tank Rack

Ok, I finally finished making a few sets, I've attached the pics below. They ended up taking a lot more effort then I thought... oh well. I made it so you can stack them, but there is an extra piece to make em stackable. Works pretty well, I might make a few more changes, but the initial ones...

    DIY Scuba Tank Rack

I actually was working on pricing/making about 5-6 racks just to see how much it costs to make em, how much time, etc, but I have my first CNC machine mechanical failure. I've ordered new parts and am awaiting them so i can finish making the racks. So, not so good timing on the CNC machine to...

no comment :) Stacking them would probably be pretty easy, for the back of an SUV that does make a lot of sense. I am working on the twin tank design, I think i'd rather have that, since for me I'll be able to make another and then have 4 tanks possible. But with slight modification I...

Well I was going to say wow look at all nice responses, dumpsterDiver put a stop to that.... I'm not sure what extra work you are referring too, I built the rack for a few reasons, one primary reason is because I have a bad back, i'm recovering from back surgery and it wasn't successful, and...

Here's a pic of my cnc right before I finished it, there's a tabletop on it to put the parts you're cutting which isn't in the pic.

It's cut on a CNC machine, I built my own CNC machine long ago, another hobby. Yes it's all 3/4" baltic plywood, home depot. I designed it in about 2 hours while watching TV and then it took an hour to cut it out, approx. So it's cut out with a standard woodworking router, 1/4" inch spiral bit.

I made a rack for the back of my truck, the first version worked better then I expected, there are things I would change if i cut out another one, but here are the pics of the first version: The whole thing is just pieces of interlocking wood, when not in use I can just take it apart real...

    DIY Scuba Tank Rack

This is the tank rack i made for the back of my truck, each tank is strapped down individually. There is an additional brace that comes down around the top valve of the tanks, but no real pressure goes on the valve as the straps hold them securely.
