    RMO Round Up

About a gazillion hotels in town, which is about all there is. Not sure about campgrounds. Santa Rosa has a few local restaurants, a Denny's, some hotels and a couple of gas stations. Nothing else, really. No walmart or anything like that.

2014 dive plans: Cozumel next Wednesday Blue Hole some time in March or April Crater a few times June through August Key Largo July if everything pans out Usually 3 or 4 of us head to the Blue Hole from Ft Collins CO, so I am thinking of buying an enclosed trailer for all our stuff. Should...

    Carter Lake (Loveland) tomorrow

It wasn't bad, but that may be due to two things: (1) the water level is down quite a bit, so it was pretty much sandy all the way to the water, and (2) my point of reference for muddy, sticky messes is Sunrise Beach at Horsetooth Reservoir. Which is horrifically bad. Haven't gone in yet...

    Carter Lake (Loveland) tomorrow

It wasn't bad. Water level is way down, but the beach is sandy rather than muddy, at least compared to Sunrise Beach at Horsetooth. The Rangers did stop by, but they were fine. Just asked how the vis was (about 4 feet). Friendly and didn't hassle us. According to a friend, they had a couple...

I'm heading over there in the morning (July 13), PM me if anyone wants to join me. I have a spare tank and weights if you are in need with the short notice.

    Boyd lake

Just S of Fort Collins, near I25 and just west of Fort Collins/Loveland airport. It's a shallow lake, the deepest part is about 55'. Algae blooms galore. Tons of boat traffic, so much so that I decided against diving that day. Horsetooth or Carter for me.

    Aurora Reservoir

No, my parents extended their visit from back east and I had a few other things pop up here locally. I am heading out of town for a few days this Thursday so it'll be maybe Saturday the 23rd or Sunday the 24th before I get the chance.

    Philippines trip report up

Excellent read, the GF and I are looking for a place to travel and dive over an extended Labor Day weekend. Do you think that would be a decent time of year to head to the Philippines?

    Boyd lake

Anyone dive Boyd Lake? My parents are camping there all week long, thought I might drag a tank or two down one day this week and give it a shot. I would imagine that the visibility would be pretty limited with the algae bloom, anyone been down reasonably deep and see anything cool?

Dry suit course in the Denver area

I'm diving a Bare tri-lam right now, just fabbed myself up some dry gloves for it, need a thicker hood to dive in winter. Might pick up that new Scubapro suit in a month or two, gotta drop 20 lbs more before fall (in which that Bare will be HUGE on me). I dive dry pretty much everywhere...

Blue Hole / Perch Lake, April 21-22

Yeah it was quite the blender on Sat morning, pretty crowded. Perch was very nice, and much better vis than we had expected. Thanks to Tom for the pics and good company.

Blue Hole / Perch Lake, April 21-22

There are 3 of us from the Denver area planning on roughly the same thing; a night dive in BH Saturday night and possibly a morning dive in the lake on Sunday.

Video -- Blue Hole with my new GoPro Hero2

I learned that lesson the hard way; luckily I lost mine in Santa Rosa so the only downside was about 10 minutes of video of the bottom before I found it and picked it up.

    Blue Hole January 13-15

I'm planning on going to BH that weekend, too. Fort Collins here.

    Apeks DS4/XTX or Scubapro Mk17/G250V ?

Would you guys trade the DST and XTX 50's for a set of Mk17/G250V's? Another friend of mine just got a brand new set of Mk17/G250V's from his LDS, and he has decided he doesn't like them and he'll trade me for my Apeks regs if I want. The Apeks regs need servicing (they're 8 years old as well)...

    Paracord for lanyards?

I use 550 cord for tons of stuff. Has held up in freshwater just fine, haven't been in salt much so can't say. For knots and lanyard ideas (and some great stopper knots) check out Stormdrane's Blog
