My hack is using a blunt tip pick, after a bit of practice it gets fairly easy. Try at your own risk, YMMV.

    Scubapro Mark 5?

MK5s from mid 80's and onward did have the plastic saddle. The flat metal yoke screw puts this one from the mid 80s, by 1988 MK5's had the plastic top yoke screws along with plastic saddle. The metal saddles seem to have disappeared right around the time the SPEC version showed up. It is...

    Scubapro 1st Stage Identification Help.

My old posts make the same error, if I recall correctly axxel57 is the one that first mentioned the difference a few years back. The situation reminds me of a time when the term R109/R156 was somewhat common. I credit Couv for helping educate me to the fact that there is no such thing as a...

    Scubapro 1st Stage Identification Help.

As far as I know, there are not service manuals available for MK9 or Balanced Adjustable. The MK10 manual will be fine to use for the MK9, and a G250 manual would be closest match for Balanced Adjustable.

    Scubapro 1st Stage Identification Help.

Balanced Adjustable fits most any situation from upgraded 109 up to the 150/152 B/A as well as 156 B/A Perhaps the easiest way to keep things straight is saving the 156 term for use only when it is a true 156. Leaving the unbalanced 109 as 109/Adjustable.

    Scubapro 1st Stage Identification Help.

I am sleep deprived today and should have typed 150 instead of 151 in my post above, and made edit to correct. A modified copy/paste from this thread describes the 109/150/156 story. Catalog # 109 is the original and unbalanced version. Can be upgraded to Balanced Adjustable status. Catalog #...

    Scubapro 1st Stage Identification Help.

The MK 9 was sold from 1983 to 1985, and is the MK 10 minus swivel as shown in schematics shared by Tanks A Lot. It was paired with a 150 Balanced Adjustable as originally sold by Scubapro, the 156 Balanced Adjustable was not available until early 90's.

    Breaking down wrecked regs

Sherwood, possibly Magnum as the Magnum Blizzard heater fins are not seen in your photo. Just a guess, I'm not very familiar with Sherwoods and there were several second stages with that style cover and black plastic cover ring.

After seeing your creation, I messaged a SB member who mentioned having an idle 3D printer. If that option does not work out then I will certainly take you up on the offer. Thank you!

Scubapro Balanced Adjustable - have you seen this version?

I dropped the hint to Couv a few times that I would be quite interested in one of his 156 if he ever decided to let one go. Very nice that you have one from his collection. Looking at your picture, I see the recessed clip style also had a couple styles. One style is flush with the air barrel...

    Buenos Dias de Guatemala City!

I roamed around Guatemala a few times, with some long stays in Antigua attending language school and hanging out around Lake Atilan. A beautiful country, I hope your time there is enjoyable. Diving the waters of Atitlan was a shock after getting acclimated to the tropical water of Utila!

Scubapro Balanced Adjustable - have you seen this version?

Being curious where or when the habit of referring to the Balanced Adjustable a 156 without taking into account the difference compared to the 150/152 may have started, I searched the threads from the early years of Scubaboard. The first reference to 156 shows up in March 2006 in a thread with...

Scubapro Balanced Adjustable - have you seen this version?

The defining characteristic of a Balanced Adjustable 156 is the G250 size exhaust valve. A Balanced Adjustable is not a 156 unless it has this feature. There are at least a few 156 with G250 exhaust valve but no CE stamp. All Balanced Adjustable with 109 size exhaust valve are always either 150...

Scubapro Balanced Adjustable - have you seen this version?

True that changes were often made at service etc and we can not count on seeing Balanced Adjustables in factory original condition. My comment on six variations of the 156 (and I do mean the real 156) was made based on fairly certain data such as Scubapro catalogs and diagrams, plus looking at...

    Questions About ScubaPro 109 2nd

Got it. Page 72 is definitely using unbalanced 109/G200 vs Balanced Adjustable/G250 as the example. I can easily grasp the concept that the stronger 109 spring requires more energy to open the valve and maintain open position when compared with the lighter balanced poppet spring. But where he...
