Help Critique My Fill Station Design

I have a large compressor for drive gas. I want to add some better filtration, but it should so ok. As for the sight glass, Filter Techs and August Industries has them. You can buy moisture indicator inserts or CO/moisture combos.

Help Critique My Fill Station Design

I don't currently have helium bottles, so I will be diving mostly air for now. I will be diving LP85 manifolded doubles, and have 50% and 100% in AL40s. So likely 2 sets of LP85s filled to ~3000 once to twice a month. The frequency will increase as I make more time for it. I may switch to...

Help Critique My Fill Station Design

I bought a complete fill station a few years ago. I had to do some reorganizing of the garage, so the assembly of the fill station fell on the back burner. I am now trying to get it back together. From my notes and pictures, and help from the previous owner, I was able to reconstruct the...

    Oxygen Boosting Safety

I am beginning to layout a newly acquired complete fill station, currently setup for continuous blending of nitrox and trimix with automatic cut-off solenoids on the O2. It included a few 3500 and 4500psi storage bottles, and a few 2400psi customer-owned O2 bottles. It also incorporates a...

    Tec Diver Bouyancy

Are you using your drysuit or wing as the main buoyancy compensation device? If using the drysiut as main BC, I suggest try adding just enough air to the suit to eliminate squeeze, and use the wing as the main BC. See if that eliminates it. If you are using the wing as intended, check as...

    Double tanks to fill station

Yes, the wing stays in my drysuit bag to and from the dive site. It helps prevent damage to the wing since I use the backplate for tank transport. I sit the tanks up straight in the backseat as a passenger would sit. This makes it easy to get them in and out of the car. I assemble on the...

    Double tanks to fill station

I always move my doubles around by the wearing the bare backplate with no wing attached. I have a table in my basement I can set the tanks on, take the backplate off my shoulders, turn around and lower by hand. I do the same at a dive shop, but I just look for a stool or stairs to set them on...

Where did you get OW certified?

My OW checkout dive was at Lake Rawlings (now Lake Phoenix) in VA with an instructor who taught in our dive club. At that time, most of the local dive shops didn't really keep instructors on hand.

New (to Me) Compressor - What To Check?

Jax, no I don't have a CO analyzer yet, but will once I get the system up and running. it's one of those things I've been meaning to add to the gear. I am still deciding between continuous blending or partial pressure filling methods. But either way I would need Grade E modified or OCA. Once...

New (to Me) Compressor - What To Check?

Yes, I'm sure the oil is much more than a year old. I'll change it. I saw reference to an oil filter in the manual. I assume this has one and that will be changed too. I'm not sure about the filter tower. My notes said it may have been a Mako tower? I'm not sure if it is a packable design...

New (to Me) Compressor - What To Check?

I bought a compressor a while ago, but life got in the way, and I'm just getting around to getting it up and running and making a filling system. First I want to concentrate on getting the compressor running well. It is a Bauer Mariner 7cfm compressor with a single phase motor. The previous...

    Mike Gutterman

Sadly, I have to report a fellow scuba diver and friend died after complications following the snowstorm the DC area received recently. Paraphrased with help from another friend and dive buddy: C. M. "Mike" Gutterman died Monday evening (Jan 25) while attempting to walk from his truck to his...

    Travel friendly solo diving?

There are a few rock quarries around here that recognize solo diving. I'm sure it's worth the flight from CA. J/k I don't know of any vacations spots that specifically allow it. But I bet if you have a destination in mind, an email will tell you if they will honor your S/R cert. Some just...

'This is 911. What is your emergency?' How prepared are you for a medical emergency?

Great job Pete. I had a similar incident about a year ago. It was a bad car accident, but as far as I know, everyone survived. I posted about it in the MOF/NMOF thread. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/surface-interval/473077-mof-nmof-lxii-slackers-hijackers-unbent-40.html#post7040164 I too...
