Please Help, I don't know how to properly fold my SMB

I have this exact one. I roll it starting from the top, withe the opv finishing on the outside of the roll. Then double back the last bit which puts the inflator tube also on the inside, tucked against the opv. The built in bungee holds it very tight, secure and neat. I find water enters the...

    Scooter shore dives

There's a few divers who scooter in the seaway, also you could try the Scottish prince about 400m off main beach. Narrowneck reef just nearby can get nice fish life, but its probably just as easy to fin out (only about 100m out) Also could try Kirra reef down the coast. Try talking to Ian Banks...

    New Mask + Big Nose

I use a Picasso mask. They are very low volume and have much smaller lens' than I'm used to but it works ok so far (only used it a handful of times) I have to play with the strap position to get it to seal on most dives. I have found having the strap ride MUCH lower than I normally do has been...

    Sun proofing face underwater

Have a look at a thing called the fishing buff. It looks light weight and if coupled with a cap and sunglasses will offer total protection. http://www.mybuff.com.au/how-to-wear/fishing/

    Venting to get some sleep

I'm glad you vented, and hopefully it helped. I can't really relate to your situation, but I certainly wish you the happy life that you (and everyone) deserves. The one thing I can offer is a recommendation that you try and reconnect with a psychologist or psychiatrist. I have had family members...

Custom mouthpiece on you donor reg: problem?

No, they just gave examples from their personal experience of watching people gag from a donated seacure (and other types of moulded mouth pieces), then suggested they not be used. Is the argument that they definitely can't cause gagging, or that if they do it won't be a problem? Cause neither...

Custom mouthpiece on you donor reg: problem?

I asked this exact question in the Hogarthian forum a while ago, consensus was that it can easily produce a gagging reflex in the OOA diver and that they should be avoided for the donate reg. I had a seacure and had donated it to a couple of people for drills. They all found it useable but not...

How many second stages when diving with a pony?

Is this done by holding both inflate and deflate down at the same time? Do you run a risk of germs etc from inside the bladder contaminating the air you breathe doing this? Sounds like a fun one to practice.

    AOW Navigation OOA

I think you did well with the circumstance you found yourself in. Did you pass the course? Did the instructor ask to repeat that particular dive?

Disappointing fit on Scubapro Jet Fins

I can't help with the sizing, but I have a pair of OMS Slipstreams. From what I can tell they are very, very similar to jet fins, however they are much lighter. I'd say they are about neutral in the water.

How many fatal shark attacks to stop you diving

We've topped 500 posts and I have a simple question for you Foxfish. What is the number of fatal attacks before YOU stop diving? Just give us the number.

Fiji, Vanuatu and Australia in April-May

Everyone has given very good advice so far. Safety in Australia should not be a big concern, although it should not be ignored either. Agree with Wingy about not hitch hiking. The east coast of Australia has many, many back packers so you shouldn't have too much trouble meeting people. Airlie...

    dive clubs/buddies wanted

Hi ally, Mike.D and I often dive at the Gold Coast seaway. That is the closest shore dive and is usually quite good. Further down is the Tweed river. Scuba world and sunreef up at Mooloolaba both run good trips to the HMAS Brisbane, and Sundive are awesome at Byron Bay. Go dive run trips each...

    Diving Accident, Self-Responsibility and Balance

Can you not see the irony dripping from this post? You attack Thea for self diagnosis, then say with absolute certainty that she did not have a medical problem. In my opinion she needs to get fully checked out by a real doctor. Then perhaps some fitness/dive training would help after that.

Incident, panic and rapid ascent from 20 meters. Q&A

Just a thought but if you were in front of/below the other diver perhaps it was his ears. If he was unwilling to abandon you he may have pushed himself deeper, without being able to clear his ears, to gain your attention before aborting the dive. I'm not sure if it would explain the panic but...

How many fatal shark attacks to stop you diving

It is a question that has been answered by many dozens of divers here on the board, continuing to ask it won't change anything. I think it has been made abundantly clear that the threat of shark attack to SCUBA DIVERS is so minuscule that it doesn't register on the risk assessments of the...

How many fatal shark attacks to stop you diving

Foxfish, how often have you had encounters with the sharks that are targeted in the cull? Have you ever been really threatened? Bumped? Has anyone you know ever been bitten?
