the best non-wreck diving in Norway?

Well further south or the West and North is usually considered more interesting than the inner Oslo fiord. But we have good diving here as well, especially autumn and winter.

Any recent dive reports from Eritrea/southern Red Sea?

Wpuld be kind of stupid going to Yemen as a tourist right now.

the best non-wreck diving in Norway?

Hi again. I know a few places were it's easy to play around checking out new equipment. Diving with a dry suit is not rocket science. This is the best season for diving as the water is still not freezing and the viz is getting better. The good folks at FUE will happily let you try out one...

the best non-wreck diving in Norway?

Hi Laura, there are plenty of diving clubs in this area. I don't have access to a car right now, but if you do I'd be happy to buddy up with you.

    Sharm in February?

You'll probably be OK in a 5mm. If you start diving in the UK you'll probably want a dry suit sooner or later anyway. If cash is not an issue, then a DUI TLS style dry suit with just a thin undergarnment would be ideal for february in the Red Sea.

    Split Fins or Not?

I started out with Atomic split fins just like you. As long as I only used flutter kicks they served me well. If you want to use other kicks, like frog kickand back kick though, look for something else. I like jet fins when diving dry with doubles, but you are likely to strugglea bit for the...

Tanzania or Mozambique or South Africa?

I dived in Vilankulos north of Tofo recently. The quality of pelagic was good, turtles and rays on just a couple of dives, much better than a average dive in Dahab. But the reefs were less impressive than in the red sea and vizibility much worse. Several groups of Dolphins on the surface on the...

    Wadi Lahami RSDS review

Indeed. Also, there were no dolphins spotted at Sattayah the week I was there. So I would consider carefully what to spend the money on. The cavern thing was nice though. But I would maybe consider saving the cash for the long trips for Elphinstone.

    Wadi Lahami RSDS review

They are... Ribs. I didn't find the ride itself very exhausting, but it's important to drink lots of water before going down. But the trips could be quite long, almost one hour to get to the sites in the so called "C-area". I'm not really sure if I found it worth the long trip and extra cost to...

Thoughts on the future of Sharm

Actually parts of Egyptian legislation, especially family law, is already based on Sharia. Of course, it's not exactly the same sharia as the islamists want. Actually some of the worst rioting has been in Northern Sinai. Not so far away from Dahab or Sharm el Sheikh. There is also potential...

    1st day in the pool...Yikes!

I had a very hard time during the pool session of my open water. Barely got through the drills. In the sea it was all different and it just felt much more natural. Hard to explain.

    CDWS dissolved...?

The reason I'm asking is that I've been traveling a lot in Egypt the last months, up and down the coast to Libya and also recently in the Red Sea region and my experience is that the police checkpoints, while sometimes still operated, has ceased functioning. It seems the only ones doing their...

    CDWS dissolved...?

What I wonder about is the following: As there is no CDWS anymore and the police is mostly not performing their duties... Could you in theory go without a DM to dive sites in the more busy places like Hurghada / Sharm / Dahab withouth anyone intervening? I'm just curious.

    Scubapro Jetfins for Beginners?

OMS Slipstreams and Jetfins are not the same. I use Slipstreams for warm water diving with one cylinder because they are lighter (near neutral in the water) and I need less force in the kicks in those conditions than I do when I'm using jetfins in cold water. I'm still learning, found the...

Beginner with some (lots) of questions about equipment

I need about 2 lbs (1kg) less weight when using a shell dry suit and a 400 g undersuit and the shell suit I'm using for diving in Norway (temperatures comparable to Canada) than with my 5mm wetsuit. Using a 7mm wetsuit with a 7 mm shorty on top of that I'd need a lot more weight. And I would...

Beginner with some (lots) of questions about equipment

My experience is you will not regret buying a backplqte and wing. Dir Zone is a good and affordable choice. Consider if there is any possibility shelling out the cash for a dry suit. I feel 5mm neoprene wet suits are way too thick, wouldnt wanna think about 14mm.

    SPG placement

I started converting to DIR this winter. It was still dry gloves season and clipping it to the hip made me a bit nervous. I took the chance while diving in warm water last week and started clipping it to the hip. After a few dives it worked like a charm and it's defo less clutter than together...

    Wadi Lahami RSDS review

So, just back from one week of diving with Red Sea Diving Safai in Wadi Lahami. I went because I couldn't find a liveaboard to fit my schedule and was hoping to get a lot of good dives. I'll just post this as a quick review, as you can tell, my impressions are a bit mixed, some very good...

Business to sell in Dahab, Egypt Small Hotel

I'm not interested in buying... But, only Egyptians are allowed to buy these kind of companies these days, or am I wrong?
