    Drysuit Zippers....Saaaaay what? Which one????

Thanks! Can you elaborate on this? Are you saying Urethane specifically, or are you using Urethane as a general term for laminate suits? It's my understanding that laminate suits (almost) always have an "outer" fabric (such as nylon or cordura) which is then glued to a waterproof material layer...

How do you feel about upside down trim pockets on waist for BP/W ballast solution?

Sorry I've been late getting back to this thread. A lot of good points made. Here are my thoughts: I'm looking to simplify my setup, not make it more complicated. So adding a DUI weight harness or moving ballast from my rig to my person isn't a consideration for me. Currently, I use the Dive...

How do you feel about upside down trim pockets on waist for BP/W ballast solution?

I require 26lbs of ballast added to my BP/W and 119HP steel tank set up. I dive dry. Idea: Add four trim pockets mounted upside down along my waist webbing. Each trim pocket can hold up to 5lbs. I only need 16lbs total on my waist as I'll have 10lbs in trim pockets on my upper tank band. Trim...

    Super tired after diving.

I used to have similar issues. Here's a thread about it. My last post in the thread provides the "update" and the apparent solution (for me at least).

At What Point Do You Become A Boat For Hire And What Are The Legal Ramifications?

I think Wookie's answer is exactly what I was looking for. However, let's say you did get into the habit of only inviting back guests that made voluntary contributions. I wonder if an attorney could argue that a contribution had become a de facto condition of carriage on a vessel; that...

At What Point Do You Become A Boat For Hire And What Are The Legal Ramifications?

Some friends and I were discussing buying a boat as a partial ownership arrangement. Three of us would each buy 1/3rd ownership and split the various ongoing expenses that come along w. owning a boat. I was discussing this w. another friend who was not part of the buying arrangement, and told...

    headaches

I used to get headaches (coupled w. extreme fatigue) after 2 to 3 dives. Actually created a THREAD about it a while back. As you can see from my update (last post), it seems that my regulator was not open wide enough. Important thing to note here is that you cannot tell the difference between...

Weighting for HP 119 vs AL80

The only way it seems like it would make sense to me is if your wetsuit lost 8lbs of buoyancy at 15ft. But even then, you said you had to "fight to get down" which would tell me you were still slightly positive and so you'd actually have to lose more than 8lbs of buoyancy to hold a safety stop...

    Non-Useable DUI Zip Seals

If you have access to a few sets of used DUI Zip Seals that no longer seal, I would be interested in buying them from you. The Zip Seal part must not be mutilated or compromised. PM me if interested. Thanks!

Buoyancy in 7 mil and how to be a good instabuddy -- kelp!

I'm 5'9" 190 lbs and I used to wear 28lbs w. a steel 100 when I dove my 7mm AquaLock. That kind of weight requirement is not at all uncommon around here. In fact, a local day boat suggest 10% of your weight plus 7 lbs when trying to guesstimate weight requirements.

    min. wing size to twinset

There is a very popular sticky thread called The Ultimate Wing Lift Calculator where someone on this board put together an Excel spreadsheet where you input all of your rig and body variables and it spits out a minimum wing lift calculation. Essentially, your wing should be able to float your...

Buoyancy in 7 mil and how to be a good instabuddy -- kelp!

You're gonna love San Clemente, and you're gonna fall in love w. kelp. Regarding how to avoid being tangled in it, it's actually not that difficult underwater. Oftentimes as you swim through it your head and then shoulders will separate the strands of kelp for you. (The one caveat I would say...

The SEEKER Dive Boat For Sale

Was perusing boats for sale and came across THIS listing. Checked to see if there were any threads on it and there was one from 2012 but it seems the price back then was $150K. It can be yours today for only $25K.

    Do you dive solo?

Did my first solo dives this past weekend. LOVED it. Not saying I'd like to do it all the time (because I also enjoy sharing the dive experience in the presence of others), but it is great not having to worry about anyone else other than yourself. I was amazed to realize at how much of my...

Pain on the outside edge of the foot

I've had a similar pain for 25+ years. I used to use a bodyboard (aka "boogieboard") when I was a kid, which also usually entails using a fin like scuba diving. When I used to do this, it would just be a matter of time before that specific pain would start to kill my feet and I'd have to go back...

Can someone identify this strange inflator hose?

Might be an Apeks style inflator fitting as opposed the more common Seatec style fitting. I believe the Apeks style might be more common in Europe.

My Biggest Fear (GW Shark encounter)

Actually my biggest fear is doing a kick out on a shore dive on top of the water and never seeing what hits me. The music doesn't really help, either: Original LINK RJilFvxMQE0
