His endocrinologist referred him for the test based on the number of years he's been a diabetic, coupled with the medications he takes to control cholesterol and BP. His A1C is generally 6.1 and has been for years. His diabetes is well controlled, but he's been living it with it for 45 years...
Thank you for the insight. His stress test was negative. I'm certainly not looking for medical advice. I'm trying to determine if he should see a dive doctor for a second opinion before making the decision to retire from diving.
We are recreational divers who prefer to stay shallow.
Hi -
My husband is 64 and under the care of a cardiologist who has cleared him for diving. He's a type 1 diabetic (diagnosed at 19 yo). He has a calcium score of 1940. He's generally in good shape. His cholesterol and BP are controlled through medication. He has never had chest pains or...
Not a smoker. 5'2'' and 160lbs (but I carry it well ). I would say I'm pear shaped but morphing into an apple the older I get. I did try to pay attention to hydration since it may have been a contributing factor last time. I do have a cocktail at night while on vacation but not...
I didn't take pic's this time around. I did in 2017 but I no longer have them. The rash was light. Not the large purple welts I saw in pictures of people with a much worse case. Mine was almost like hives, predominately on my torso. The symptom that first got my attention was the deep ache...
I did not call DAN this time around. The first time I talked to DAN. They recommended, and I went to the hospital on Coz. The doctor there told me it was a classic presentation. Since the presentation this time around was identical I followed the same advise as last time; stop diving...
I had my first diagnosis 3 years ago in Cozumel. I was diving air. Since then, I've been diving nitrox, not on air tables. I was nervous about not knowing my tissue loading so set my computer for the correct mixture and made sure to dive very conservatively. I'm a recreational, vacation diver...
We're headed to Coz over Thanksgiving. We usually bring some Bourbon with us. Based on a Google search we should be ok up to 3 liters. Should we expect any issues with customs? If so, what is the preferred method of handling?
Really?! We're staying at Residencia's reef and diving with Alex Adventures Cozumel over Thanksgiving. Any issues with being picked up at the Secrets Dock that anyone knows of?
Hi-
I have a Zena. No pockets so I use clips and retractable lines for everything. I hate having anything dangling. I have a velcro pouch (similar to this one) attached to my BC. My torch is on a tractable clip at the bottom of the pouch. It's easy to get to and easy to re-store when I'm...
My husband and I also hate being on the clock during vacation. That is one of the reasons we love Bonaire. Sipping coffee on the porch until WE decide we're ready to go do something. Are you missing out? Maybe. Before we discovered Bonaire our favorite place was Cozumel. But we've tried...
Agree with @DiveMaven. I've had my Zena for about 7 years. I never touch the shoulders, only the side straps. It took me a while to get the shoulders right. I have to loosen the sides while on the boat in order to be able to zip up the front. As long as the shoulders are right, tightening...
