Compare and contrast some old first stages: CDX5, Zeagle Envoy, Aqualung Titan

As it happens , over the years, I have had all 3. The Oceanic had problems was returned to Oceanic replaced with new and immediately sold. The Zeagle has been in occasional service for at least 10 years with no problems. It is a nice reg. I currently have 1 Titan and 5 Titan LX in service and...

    Braided vs Rubber Hoses

I am gradually returning to rubber hoses after trying 3 brands of braided hoses--including DGX. AS braided fail, I replace with rubber. In my opinion, braided hoses are a solution in search of a problem.

What determines the cracking point on a 2nd-stage?

I seem to recall that Sherwood recommended bending the demand lever. But, to their credit. the old Sherwoods were about as simple and reliable as a brick.

New Titan or old Legend regulator?

I do not remember the early Legend as having an ACD. Easy to tell though. Just remove the dust cap and ACD would be clearly visible.

Grand Cayman coral - white like snow

We have lots of bleached coral in the Keys as well. After an entire summer of water temps of 86-92, I hope they can recover.

Question Kink on ScubaPro HP hose

I would replace it, if just for your peace of mind. But, unless it was actually leaking and I was doing a deep dive where gas amount might be critical, I would finish the dive day. Just last week, at the beginning of a dive day, my high pressure hose began doing its best aquarium stone...

Leaking from both high pressure and power inflator hoses?

Based upon your description, it is unlikely that the first stage is the problem. Pressurize the rig, submerge it in water so that you can see EXACTLY where the leaks are. Then you (or someone more knowledgeable) can decide on a solution.

Oceanic Atmos vs Zeagle Covert XC

I have no experience with Oceanic BC's, but the Zeagle BC's I have had have been excellent, rugged, and very reliable. But, stand by, shortly there will be about 47 posts on here saying that unless you use a BP/W you will surely die.

Apeks XTX50 bubble deflector - Yay or Nay?

How about this: the English have not made any fast moves since taking part in the Dunkirk evacuation.

Apeks XTX50 bubble deflector - Yay or Nay?

I suppose we have to remember that Apeks is English. The English have not made any fast moves since Dunkirk.

Apeks XTX50 bubble deflector - Yay or Nay?

Has Apeks solved the twisty barrel problem in newer regs?

    Sherwood AVID BCD - toast?

Sherwood sold me a new Avid at a VERY MUCH reduced price a few years ago. After about 500 dives the new backpack seems to be better than the old.

Apeks XTX50 bubble deflector - Yay or Nay?

You can use either. Just push the button and slide one off and the other on. I have the large deflector on one reg and the small on another. I prefer the large.

Baggage Handling with Connecting flights with Cayman Airways

I have used both. Tampa is easier. The Cayman counter in MIA is seldom busy, but picking up baggage at claim and hauling it to Cayman counter can be a chore.

Blowing Tank Air on a Regulator

I use the tail of a dry T-shirt after the dive. Actually, I much prefer the air blasters to the idiots who spray sunscreen over everyone and everything,

    Zeagle DS-IV creep

Back when Zeagle began to manufacture their own regs, which were essentially Apeks regs with a change in the HP seat and orifice, I bought a new Envoy. When I received it, I attached an IP gauge and had results similar to what you are describing. Concerned, I called Zeagle, which at that time...

    Wonky otters!

LC runway is too short for the Saabs. Flying into LC has never been without possible issues. But, LCBR added to the issues when they began to require weekend day to weekend day reservations. Previously, there was always a scattering of weekday to weekday reservations, which took some of the...
