thanks for the info guys. I actually own 2 Canon 5D mkII DSLR but I am not looking to spend a fortune on a housing, ports, dual strobes etc seeing as I only dive a max of a dozen times a year...just cant justify spending 3000.00+ on these items. Looking to spend about $500-$600 and get some...

I have a Canon SD1400 with Canon WP-DC37 U/W housing. What would be my best external strobe option for this camera? Not looking to break the bank...I only do about a dozen dives a year, 65' or less in depth and mostly Caribbean waters (So Cal otherwise) Any advice is appreciated.

thanks Jim got the light today. Cant wait to try it out in the Caribbean next week. May even order an R5 down the road to toss in the SL4 so I can switch between the 2 bulb types for the different purposes.

may have to check out pro divers in st kitts myself when we come out in Jan =D Looks like some nice swallow novice type dives. We would like to dive a wreck and see some turtles.

yeah if the adjustment knob is all the way in...then it wont freeflow. But according to the instruction/owners manual it states to leave the knob all the way out. "do not leave the knob in the detune position while diving" as quoted from the manual.

yup that was my reasoning behind the tank size purchased. most of the places I have been to that had rental tanks, they were almost all AL80

Our LDS doesnt rent anything buy AL80's so shes never had the opportunity to try anything but that. They do sell both AL80 and AL63 as well as 3 sizes of steel. While I really like the steel tanks personally they are just to costly for what we are going to use them for. If I lived on the coast...

yeah these tanks will rarely get used. Mainly just for pool use with the occasional single tank lake dive to keep skills fresh. If we lived near the ocean I would buy use both HP steel tanks but for what we are using these for I cant justify that cost.
