    Earrings safe for neck seals?

I agree with what Rivers said. I dive with the initial studs that were used to pierce my ears by a professional piercer. No problems with my neck seals.

May Be a Silly Question...but Liveaboards and Seasickness?

I generally don't get sea sick, but when I do...Oh Boy. I take Dramamine and it works just fine for me. I also spend as much time topside in the fresh air and find that peppermint candies help settle a queasy tummy. The larger the boat, the more likely it is to handle rough seas smoothly...

    Aquacat question

I have not been on the Aquacat. However, some of the crossings get rough and I occasionally get seasick. (Once I actually turned really green and had trashcans shoved at me from every direction). It's best to stay ahead of it. I take good old fashioned Dramamine and it works just fine for...

    My first liveaboard.

On a live aboard, there are no dive shops. While the crew will most likely have some spare parts, it's best if you bring extra's of mask straps, fin straps, o-rings for your reg, camera, lights, etc., silicone grease, a back up dive computer, a back up mask and an SBM. I can't tell you how...

    Upgrading

Just to let everyone know, I am "test driving" the 60D and 7D at my favorite shop (B&H) next week. I live on LI, so I am making the trip into the city to see which one "feels" better. Then I will order the housing and strobes through my dive ship and spend a lot of time getting to know my new...

    womens wetsuit sizing

I wear Henderson suits -- 3, 5 and 7 mm. I find that their women's suits are cut full enough through the bust and hips. My issue has been length because I have a 36" inseam. I usually have custom suits for a few (about $30 more) so the length is there in the legs. Men's suits would be fine...

    Upgrading

Thanks for all the info. After going back to the drawing board so to speak -- I have decided to go with either the 6D or the 7D underwater. I will eventually get the 5D Mark II or III because I do a lot of shooting up top. I have to love that both of my hobbies (scuba and photography) require...

    Upgrading

Thanks for all the info. I am getting the 5DII for above water shooting and wanted to use it below water as well. BUT will "test drive" the 7D. I hadn't really looked at the 7D and the 6D and will go back and do so now. I am more interested in shooting stills below the water. If I do decide...

Keeping Warm... How many layers do you wear?

I dive dry in the NE most of the time. However, our weather has been so warm that I have been comfortable in my 5mm in some of our shallower shore dive locations. I love my DUI suit and use the 4th Element Undergarments -- Artic for March - June, and Sept - Dec; and the light weight for the...

    Hair Care when diving

I have long hair. And I despise, dislike, ok HATE hoods. I rinse my hair in fresh water after each dive. I also use Humectuss by Nexus between dives as long as I can get a rinse before diving. I keep my fine hair in a vertical pony tail because it stays out of my way. I also use the wide...

I am at my wits end with sealife products

I am weighing in late on this thread. I have been MIA for a bit -- real life is a beast sometimes. (We lost both of my husband's parents during the first 3 months of this year and then my sister in law in May). I have a DC 600 and a DC1000. Both have well over 50 dives each with the 1000...

    Upgrading

Hi All. I am getting ready to upgrade from my much loved, well used Rebel XSi. I am going to either the 5d Mark II or the 5d Mark III. Will the lenses that I currently have for my XSi fit the Mark II. I have only 2 that I am concerned for now -- my 60mm Macro and my 55-102mm. Both are EOS...

Thanks Sunshine. I will add that to the top of my notes from this thread and others.

    First time diving Curacao

Thanks for all the info. My dive shop is pretty relaxed on this particular trip as far as dives are concerned. It's winter break in NY and we have a lot of families and non-diving spouses/kids on this trip. We can dive as little or as much as we want. The boat diving is arranged in advance...

    First time diving Curacao

I am heading to Curacao with my dive shop for a week of thawing out and diving. We are staying at the Lodge Kura Hulanda. Can anyone tell me if there is a market nearby? Do they have rental cars on site or should we rent one from the airport? Also, is there a guest laundry facility on the...

    What dry suit to Get

I have a custom DUI FLX. I use the 4th element undergarments. These are made for diving and are compact and keep me warm if they get wet. It's what works for me in our frosty NY waters off Long Island. I will dive dry most of the year here. My wet suits are used either in the pool training...

Question about charging the DC1000 in Bonaire

I used my DC 1000 in Bonaire this past September. We stayed at Captain Don's and I used my normal surge strip and my batteries charged just fine. All of them. The SeaLife batteries, the recharageables for strobes and dive lights and the Canon batteries for my SLR. Have a great time. Dorothy
