I think the idea with the fish finder is the best, get a quality one and float the lake in a pattern. It would give you the closest thing to a bottom map you're going to get. Then dive it, take you composition notes, mark points of interest, and find those gangsters bodies.

Anyone know what the temps would run this early? I want to go down and while the surface temps are nice at around 80 that time of the year, I'm not too sure about the water near the bottom. It was around 60*'s in the middle of august last year so... This lake doesn't freeze over so I'm not...

If you're thinking of Lake Powell, I'd go to Sand Hollow instead. Probably the same temps if not warmer and a good course is set up for diving.
