Diving in Florida Keys - February

It's fun but it's a lot of work. I remember last winter the seas bumped up to 4-6 feet and numerous people were puking over over the bow. The Capt had to reassure everyone that the nausea will go away when you reach the bottom. It was nasty. We had fun though.

    Free dive depth question.. OT?

The dangers of breath hold diving are not the same as compressed gas diving. I think I've heard of DCS in sport free diving but it's so rare its probably not worth mentioning. The associated risks of breath hold diving is shallow water blackout and drowning. Since you're not breathing gas at...

I don't dive that spot but having a patrol boat around seems like a good thing. Am I right?

    Is AOW necessary?

had to... Peter La Fleur: [after Patches hits Justin in the face with a wrench] Yeah, uh, Patches... are you sure that this is completely necessary? Patches O'Houlihan: Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? Peter La Fleur: Probably not. Patches O'Houlihan: No, but I...

    Out Of Air

Glad to hear you're OK, man. I'm sure your near miss will cure your lack of situational awareness in the future. As a newly trained diver it's hard to understand the gas laws when you've only done a few dives to 30'. The deeper you go the more aware you should be. An al 80 with 3500psi...

    Snorkeling with Orcas.

Man, that just doesn't look fun haha. I can't really imagine being in that funky suit in that kind of weather with a killer whale. Is the water at least clear, you think?

Sailboat Runs over DiveFlags at BHB

Oh, i apologize. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that the east channel was a known sailboat passage because it allows larger boats cross safely under the bridge. They should definitely post a sign for the divers entering the water so they know the dangers. how often do sailboats use...

Sailboat Runs over DiveFlags at BHB

Diving in a known channel doesn't seem like a great idea to me no matter how great the diving is. I can see why the dive community is pissed but I also the sail boaters' points of view as well.
