Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

You mentioned earlier that a rifle for bears is acceptable. If you're taking on a bear without an adequate side-arm like a S&W .50 or at least a .44 Magnum, you're taking your life in your own hands. My family has a lot of land in Central Texas, and it's a rule that you really don't want to...

Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

There are Canadians who live in bear country who would call you insane.

Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

Lots of reasons... If you need to use a weapon in a home defense situation, it's good to be able to identify your target, bonus points for being able to blind the target first. If you're out in the woods, it keeps a hand free, and again allows you to identify your targets at much longer...

Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

I realized I hadn't really updated the thread, so thanks for the advice, but let me update: I'm going Surefire for the 590 and Larue .308. I was really looking for a water-proof option for my 5.56 which I use for a "ranch gun", so it will be consistently dropped in water and mud, so...

Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

Is this the part where we compare service records? Awesome, that's exactly what I was hoping to find. Thanks!

Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

I have 2 Surefires, one on my HD HK45 and my HD Mossberg 590. I have a knock-around AR15 I was looking to put something bright and cheap on, as it's my "ranch gun" so to speak... Something you can carry around in the back of the truck when you're out on the land for use if you see something...

Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

Cool deal man, I'll do that. Thanks.

Weird -- Dive Lights as Weapon Mounted Lights?

So this is kind of a shot in the dark, I'm hoping there's some members here who are also gun enthusiasts like me. I've been beating my head against a wall looking for a high quality, but not ridiculously priced set of weapon lights for mounting on a Mossberg Shotgun and a LaRue .308. For those...

How many have legitimately used your knife/shears underwater in an emergency?

Like any other piece of emergency equipment, the goal is to never have to use it. I will still always carry one, and pray I don't need to.

What watch do real divers wear?

Alrighty, so I've been a huge Luminox fan for years, but I find myself in more and more serious business meetings where most people wear Rolexes and similar. I need to step up from my canvas/velcro watch, but I'm still looking for a dive quality watch. Criteria: -Stainless/metal/plated band of...

    Intova Ultra Nova

Throwing another hat in the ring for the UltraNova. Got mine off Amazon a few weeks back for $69, and for the price it completely exceeds expectations for light output and durability. Honestly, I'm thinking of picking up a couple more to keep in the trucks and to take camping/hunting...

    Rope or Paracord for Float

Paracord works great if you're in a position to have a huge supply. I use PC for pretty much everything, so why not diving as well?

What watch do real divers wear?

I'm a fan of the Luminox lines, I've got this one: 150$ and bulletproof so far, though you'll want to change out the band. I've ripped the rubber one, and recently snagged the nylon one on a dive. I've got the black steel band on order, here's hoping it holds up better.

    Nice watch for diving?

This guy speaks truth. I've got a Yellow Luminox SEAL (Colormark 3050 series I think) and it's perfect. My buddy at work has a Rolex Seadweller (not even a diver) and he's constantly bugging me to give/sell it to him. Can't really go wrong with Luminox.

How much are you willing to pay your LDS over online?

It's an unfair topic for me to weigh in on being that Scuba Toys is local to me, but Joe and Larry really are top notch and their guys are great. It doesn't matter where you live, give them a call.

    What's the best SCUBA car?

Z-71 4-door Chevy Colorado. The wife and I picked it up for camping and dive trips and the like and it's perfect.

    LDS vs. Internet

Like every single other instance in business, support the business you value the most. Vote with your wallet. If supporting your LDS is more important to you than your money, go there. If money is more important, buy online. If you make the decision to buy online, give your LDS a chance to...

Dive watch? I like this one....

Around $5k. I'm the only diver where I work, and the only guy who doesn't wear a Rolex Submariner. Luminox for the win.

    Should I trust divers-supply.com?

Just let them know you're a member, either with a comment in your online order or over the phone. The guys are top-notch.

    Which Dive Knife is Best?

I would recommend sticking with knife companies who make a dive knife, not dive companies who decide to make a knife. Spyderco Salt series Benchmade H2O series Kershaw Sea Hunter or Amphibian Sog SEAL series Or you can buy a $1.50 steak knife. It really depends on the quality you're...
