    Inner Ear Dcs

I had the same thing happen in February in Cozumel. Hearing in my left ear is gone and likely to be permanent. The condition is called SSHL (Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss) and the cause is usually never found. The middle ear is not affected and the equalizing mechanism is still okay. I'm...

    Getting there from San Diego

We are in Cozumel now. As posted previously, TIJ-CUN on Interjet is a great choice for San Diegans. It's affordable, the aircraft are new and well appointed, luggage allowance is 2 checked 50lb bags, and it's same day service.

Recommendation for cave course in mexico?

I will second this recommendation. Through friends, Frank introduced me to the cenote caverns in 2012, and I dived them with him on subsequent visits. I was impressed with both his upbeat attitude and his complete attention to detail with all things related to diving. In early 2014 I switched...

Zeagle's Express Tech: The first and last BC most will ever need (or want)

The Express Tech really is "one-size-fits-all." It comes with some assembly required and you just size it to fit.

Cavern / Intro Cave Playa del Carmen?

Finished Full Cave yesterday with Frank. The final dive was 122 minutes, Pet Cemetery to Blue Abyss via the Diaz Line. I led our team of three and it actually went pretty good. It was a very intense week but the way I feel now is priceless.

Cavern / Intro Cave Playa del Carmen?

Haha, nice Seinfeld quote! Yes on the Stealth. Just my newb opinion, but it is far superior to the Nomad LT I had been using previously. I leave in the morning for Full Cave with Frank.

    Operator that allow Sidemount diving?

As previously posted, there should not be an issue with sidemount in Cozumel. I have been diving with Blue Dream Cozumel, the resident shop at Playa Azul, and they are fine with it. One of the owners dives sidemount exclusively. It's possible some of the large resorts with big boats adhering...

Cavern / Intro Cave Playa del Carmen?

I finished TDI Cavern and Intro to Cave yesterday with Frank Gutierrez from Blue Life in Playa Del Carmen. He is a no-nonsense straightforward instructor and I feel I got some of the best training possible. He turned each of my inevitable mistakes into a lesson, and despite the seriousness of...

    Sept/Oct 2014 diving in Croatia

I'll bump this up, as my wife and I will be in Croatia in September and are looking to dive a day or two. We will need to rent gear as well. Croatia doesn't look that compelling (for diving), no offense, but we will be there and if we can get wet without major expense or effort we will. Any...

Would you dive with this op?

I dived with ProDive (from Allegro) a few years ago and they were an average resort dive operator. High volume, fixed schedule, mixed loads, short bottom times, well-trained and personable European staff (rather than local), good deals on dive packages, free/reduced nitrox, decent boats...

    Scuba Mau dive shop?

My dive op of choice was all booked up one day and referred me to Scuba Mau and it was fine. I would dive with Mau again without hesitation. The guide, Alex, let us dive to our capabilities, 60min+ dives. As noted, the shop is Villablanca vicinity, under Hogtown Cafe and the pier they use...

7 divers missing off Indonesian island

My limited experience at this dive site leads me to agree that it is an advanced site where conditions can and do change during the dive. The channel can have big current including thermoclines. The tide can create a big down current from the site out into the channel. And there is the chance...

    New Sidemount Diver

So how did the class go? And if you don't mind sharing, how many hours is the class and what did it cost? Do you feel it was worth the time and money? I am looking at the DiveRite Nomad LT.

    RIP Quero

Marcia had been my agent for Thailand diving since 2011 and we exchanged hundreds of emails. We always talked about meeting in person, but it never happened. I wish I had made the time. I will miss her. Deepest condolences to her family and her other friends.
