That works, and I sometimes use WD40 Silicone, definitely not the spray oil.

Spray silicon on the inside of the foot pockets. Should last 4-5 days of diving.

What @agilis said. Plus, if you are wearing a wetsuit, you will likely need to add some weights to submerge even with the snorkel vest fully deflated. The thicker the wetsuit, the more weight you are going to need.

They use dry suits for diving or snorkeling. You get a checkout on use of the dry suits, but I have no idea how detailed the instruction might be. The water is 34-39 F year round.

I have not seen the replacements. The Aqualung ones I baked were clearish, somewhat translucent, but not white. I have no idea how well the black replacements will bake/work, but I would try one and see if you can get it pressure tested before using it at depth. Please post your results one...
