    San Diego in August

The variety of life was way smaller than I expected but it was certainly a cool experience. The sea lions...amazing how big they are in the water and so graceful :) I thought one was going to charge me at one point so I curled up into a ball, but he/she was just swimming around - I did get some...

    3 year old snorkeling

I’ve honestly never heard of taking the snorkel out when you surface dive. Back home under BSAC and in the US under SSI, we were told/taught to dive, surface and clear the snorkel, without letting your face/mouth clear the water. I just do whatever I do and it’s worked for me, I cannot surface...

    3 year old snorkeling

On vacation I got my just turned 3 year old to repeatedly duck her head under the water with a mask and snorkel for a few seconds. The next day I couldn’t keep her above water - it was so cute to hear her sing Baby Shark and Daddy Finger through her snorkel! I’m a very happy Dad. Unfortunately...

    San Diego in August

I wish! But work won’t extend my travel (I’m a fed) and my wife doesn’t want me gone longer than necessary! I’ll be arriving Saturday night, conference runs Sunday morning to Thursday at noon, and I leave on Friday. I will only have a morning or afternoon/evening free. But I’ll be on east...

    San Diego in August

cross posted from Snorkeling I will be at a conference in San Diego late August and have heard SD has some awesome snorkeling (I don’t have time to scuba). Will a shorty be sufficient? Any good spot recommendations? Anyone want to get together? Cheers!

    San Diego in August

I will be in San Diego for a conference late August and heard SD has some amazing snorkeling. What kind of protection in August? Will a shorty be enough? Can anyone comment on good spots or interested in getting together? I am not a freediver, but will be practicing breath hold between now and...

Best place to take AOW in the MD/VA/DC area?

I second Aquaventures as being awesome. Divers Den in Balto also runs a tight operation (ask for Mike S if you go with them). Avoid Scuba Hut in Glen Burnie.

    U-1105

I and at least one other diver (possibly up to 4) are up for a trip to the Black Panther, late September. We are all experienced divers, with plenty of braile experience.

    Private charters to Bimini

I was looking into Bimini as well...there are some private plane charters which are really quite reasonable in the scheme of things - around $500 I think for a 1 way or quick round trip. We got in a couple of dives there with Blackbeards and loved it.

Key Largo - Dive and Hotel Package Deals?

Hi All, It looks like all of the diver operations are pretty good in the Keys and their prices are all within about $10 of each other. Also, many of them have deals with hotels. So... Does anyone know of any good deals for August or September? Thank you!

Good shore diving that is not Bonaire?

Andi...how varied is the diving on offer? That was our "problem" with Bonaire...awesome diving in general, but it was all the same, very little variation in the dive sites.

Good shore diving that is not Bonaire?

I'll check out best times of year and then probably come back to find out about places to stay!

Good shore diving that is not Bonaire?

HI Everyone, My wife and I are looking in to places to go for our 2nd Honeymoon. Since we don't get to dive as much as we would like, we want to go somewhere where there is diving whenever we want. We've already done Bonaire, loved it, but there wasn't much variation in the reef life...

    English Channel crossing with Scooters!

My first post for a long time. For those SoCal divers saying how easy the crossing should be...check out the tide tables for the English Channel. It is more than ebb, flow and slack. Trust me, I was onboard a yacht (of the sailing variety - no SatNav) and the navigation wasn't simple...

    December/January where to go?

I think the subject says it all. It's time for a 10 year "2nd Honeymoon". Our first was in Key Largo/Key West and we had terrible weather and although the diving was better than I had ever seen before, it was not what as nice as it could have been! Galapogos would be awesome - but not in...

If I had seen this thread a month ago I would have been up for it. Sounds like an awesome dive. I am in the DC area.

    Laminectomy

Hi, I will be having a micro-laminectomy in a few weeks. Part of a bone with a spur will be removed and a bulging disc trimmed. Any thoughts on whether this will limit my diving after normal recovery? It is possible, I am need a fusion to correct the bulging disc (which is also...
