    ScubaBoard Invasion Central 2016 Philippines

Sorry if this has already been addressed. Are there going to be any events scheduled for those of us that live in the Philippines? A meet and greet or something similar?

    Safest Dive Operators in Phillippines?

Just be careful of Filipino "fishermen". Looks like one or more "fisherman" dropped some dynamite on a diver recently. A wake-up call against blast fishing | Cebu Daily News

    Moalboal or Panglao

Time frame is important. If I had only two days, I would do Moalboal. Pescador Island is an amazing experience when the sardines are there. You can almost hear Sir David Attenborough narrating what you are seeing. If you have a few more days then Bohol is tough to beat for the diversity...

Diving and Living in the Philippines.

I would also advise you to wait until you get here and really take your time. In my very humble opinion prices are over blown here and may be in for a correction. I am starting to see places advertised for sale with little down and no interest, some for up to three years. To me that says buyers...

New rules for diving at Balicasag Island, Panglao, Bohol

I saw this online today at http://www.boholnewstoday.com/201505/panglao-dads-retort-to-untrue-accusation.htm I will present it with no comment, other than to say I added the red lettering to hi light what I thought was the best line in the article. The following lines were spoken by the Mayor...

New rules for diving at Balicasag Island, Panglao, Bohol

Of course not Matt. As Gilligan said, this is a money grab pure and simple. The dive sites around Bohol are all supposed to be strictly no take zones, but there are fishermen at each site every day. These fishermen use every method available including lines, nets, spears and probably poisons...

    Nudi ID help

Sorry for the bad photo. I saw this nudi in Bohol Philippines recently. I was about sixty feet deep and the nudi is probably an inch to an inch and half long. I have over a hundred dives here over the past six months and this is the only one that I have seen. Thanks for any help.

HELP! Horrible Cebu Pacific website non-functional, how else can I get tickets?

I had the misfortune of living in Ermita/Malate area of Manila for two months recently, and I can't think of any other word to describe it. For the OP, you are not alone. I have never had any success with the Cebu Pacific website. My wife is a travel agent and she will usually just physically...

First time to the Philippines and need help

I did a dive with the whale sharks at Oslob on the 27th of December. I too would say it is not worth it. In fact it should probably be halted altogether. But it is a huge cash cow and will continue until the sharks are dead from maltreatment. Way too many people are allowed into the water at...

    Hotels want bank wire transfer

I either get the hotel to accept paypal or a credit card deposit, or I find a hotel that will. My bank also charges $45 for an international fee and they use a brutal exchange rate much to their own advantage. I refuse to pay those kinds of fees just for the privilege spending my money at your...

    Hotels want bank wire transfer

I am with Flots on this one. I will not business with anyone that requires a wire transfer. There are just way too many other options.

    Beginner Diving in Philippines?

Most, if not all, of the dive fleet is back up and running in the Alona beach area of Panglao. The diving here is great for all levels and the shops do a good job of matching up divers with the same abilities. There are many great restaurants here for all tastes and budgets. The beach here...

    Recommendations for diving in Bohol

How long are you going to be in Bohol Martinio? Most of the diving is fairly easy and perfect for open water divers. Balicasag Island is still one of my favorite sites in the Philippines. It is just off the coast of Panglao and there are boats going there for diving. PS. To anyone that is...

Schooling barracuda fish? Swimming inside the school?

I saw a nice school of barracuda off the coast of Dumaguete three or four years ago. There is a natural hot spring and from what I understand they are pretty much residents there. It was nothing like the sardines of Pescador or the jacks at Balicasag though. We just tucked in behind a big coral...

    Philippines fish

Thank you Jim, I think you nailed it. I never would have thought to look at the snapper family. I had no idea that any of the snappers can get that big. I appreciate the help.

    Philippines fish

Shot this three days ago in the Philippines. I was in about 60 feet of water. Fish is approximately two and half to three feet long. Color was silver/gray. When I saw it live, I thought Dorado, but tail looks wrong in this pic. DM was not sure what it was. Thanks for any help.

Advice for 1st timer in Philippines (Bohol)

I just started a two month stay here in Alona. I personally don't think two weeks is too long here. I just booked a 35 dive package with Sun Divers and don't plan on being bored. Of course I can dive in a mud puddle and be pretty happy, so maybe I am not the best judge. There are tons of great...
