    Orange Camera found in BVI

This camera was found underwater, possibly at the dive site called West Seal Dog, in the British Virgin Islands. Brand and model are not known. The letters "TL" are handwritten on the front of the camera, but no other distinguishing marks can be found. We believe from the date stamps on the...

    Keys Shuttle or Uber?

Keys Shuttle to Key Largo costs $99. Ubers can be booked for about the same, maybe just a couple bucks more. Why take the Keys Shuttle?

Do you use diving flashing marker light?

For night dives I find flashing lights very annoying. My preference is chem-lights. They have a bright slightly diffused glow that’s easy on the eyes, and come in several colors to identify individual divers. They’re inexpensive, and I bring enough to supply the group if anyone wants one...

    Tool Bag and Individual Tools

Any concerns about bringing tools to Coz? I travel with my regs and some other gear partially disassembled to minimize space. I’m prepared to leave a cheap wrench and hex behind for the return flight, as long as I have their use on the island.

    Cold water setup for beginners

I used integrated Suunto Vypers and HelO2s in cold water for years. Nothing but headaches. Liked the Suunto computers a lot, but frustrated over signal loss while submerged, and transmitter linking issues (while the buddies patiently waited). I always carried a basic hosed SPG as back-up, and...

    What Color Is Your Stuff?

Perhaps I need to clarify… My reason for avoiding yellow, except for the octo, is to make it easier for divers in distress to clearly see and grab my octo. I agree finding one’s own octo by feel is necessary.

    What Color Is Your Stuff?

I strictly avoid yellow for anything except my octo to make it easier to locate in an emergency.

    Flying To/From San Cristobal

I read this post just before we left for Galapagos. We planned to stay about four days in Quito on the way, so I warned my friends about this “smelly liquid” scam, and potential pickpockets in general. We were walking down a busy street in Quito returning to our hotel after shopping at a...

Question Tipping on a Discounted Liveaboard Trip?

My friends and I are heading out next week on a liveaboard dive trip. We got a 50% off deal on the price of the voyage. We usually use the 10% of voyage cost formula for tipping. My question is, should we base our tip on the 50% price we paid, or the regular full price of the voyage?

    Question Spool for Fat Fingers?

Looking for suggestions on a spool with a large enough center to stick my finger through while wearing a cold water neoprene glove? - It doesn’t need to hold a lot of line, I’ll just be using to shoot an SMB. - I’d prefer a simple basic compact design. Thanks.

    Lost and Found for SoCal

ScubaPro quick-release weight pocket found on 8/22/22 at Veterans Park, Redondo Beach. Write or paint your PHONE NUMBER on any detachable gear. Just writing your name is almost useless.
