Had the same problem with mine after resurecting after several years. Have always been careful in handling and the culprit was the "O" ring at the tank valve. New "O" ring and no more lost bubbles....

There is a ton of good reading here. Just do a search for "backplate" and check the different articles. There is also an interesting article dealing with the weight of gases (under a "weight" search) in which the author ran the numbers with examples to create tables showing full and 500#...

I'll keep the "extra Baggage" calculations in mind....everything needs to be accounted for! Had been pondering them while tinkering with Sticky's calculator. Seems one needs to play around with any configuration one would find themselves in and log each. Thanks again for the input.....
