    Personal Boat Diving

If you are offshore I’d highly recommend having someone on the boat capable of running it. When I’m offshore we take turns diving and rotate in. Now if you’re close to the shoreline and could swim in that’s a different story IMO. Brian

Shark Toothing: Venice Florida 6-20 2014

Took a trip with the family and a friend to Venice Florida to do a two tank shark toothing dive. Before kids my wife & I loved doing beach dives looking for sharks teeth. We always did well in shark tooth numbers but never found the elusive large Meg tooth. Boat Dive: We did two boat dives with...

Cedar Key offshore. Tuesday, 5-10 05

Two friends and I left the Cedar Key dock at sunset aboard my 24 foot Bare Necessities intent on grouper fishing and to dive a nice ledge I recently found 36 miles offshore. After a bit of fishing the guys let me take a look at the ledge we were fishing. The surface temperature was 72° and...

Impressive U/W shark tooth diving video

Here’s an impressive U/W video of shark toothing in Charleston. There must be an ABUNDANCE of Meg teeth there! http://www.charlestondiving.com/pics/teeth.wmv I don’t have any affiliation with the dive company; I just thought the Venice Shark Toothers would like seeing some impressive Meg...

    Scalloping charters - Steinhatchee area

There are a number of businesses in Steinhatchee that would love to take you scalloping. See the links below for a few that come to mind. The next link also provides updated Steinhatchee scalloping information and the site details a very nice marina in the area (Sea Hag Marina). See...

    Venice Beach Dive Party!

Not to get off subject about this great idea Wendy has, but I do think it’s important to keep this thread also going with Tips & Suggestions on what works for toothing. In light of that I’d like to make a few more points and even some clarifications on what works for me. This is no endorsement...

    Venice Shark Tooth Dive. 7/7/03

Walter, I took that picture after I posted my report and I was in a rush to get the picture added. At the picture taking time my children were a little demanding and I should of stopped and waited to take the pic at another time. Instead, I kept working on getting the picture and didn’t take the...

    Venice Beach Dive Party!

My family & I would love to come down but we will be down in Marathon for the 2003 opening of Lobster Season. Sounds like you guys are making some excellent plans. I know you will all have a great time. Excellent idea Wendy! One tip I’d like to offer while shark toothing, is to wear one glove...

    Venice Shark Tooth Dive. 7/7/03

Here's a low quality pic of the teeth. We also love walking a local Gainesville area creek, the HogTown Creek, looking for shark teeth. Using a shovel and screen you can find a large number of teeth. It’s no secret around Gainesville that you can find teeth in our local creeks. Knavey...

    Venice Shark Tooth Dive. 7/7/03

On Monday, July 7th we packed up the kiddies (2 & 4 years old) and hit the road to Venice (3.5 hour road trip from Gainesville FL). Once there we got the kids settled on the beach with shade and toys and with a sister-in-law watching the kiddies we entered the water to wreck havoc on the shark...

    Another Venice Dive?!

ReefGuy, thanks for the clarification. No doubt that's not a beach dive. I sometimes think about bringing a boat down and diving from the boat. On a few occasions I’ve seen a number of boats flying dive flags not far out and I suspect that they were diving something like a riverbed or ledge...

    Another Venice Dive?!

Knavey, sounds like a good dive. It’s nice having a wife that likes to dive too. Reefguy, that's outstanding vis! That second bed, did he mention a depth and how far out from the beach? I’ve often seen boats not far offshore flying dive flags and I’ve always wondered if there were better...
