Totally agree except for the part about putting on your fins at the swim platform. Where I dive everyone puts them on at their seat and then flop-flop-flops up to the platform. Pausing there and fiddling with your fins probably would be considered bad form.
As for tipping, always tip the capt...
What a great week of diving. First day was scrubbed because of weather, but we later managed 8 dives in 3 days. Found a virtually pristine 4.25-inch meg tooth and plenty of other cool stuff. Thanks Steve, Dan and Zach! You guys run a top-notch operation. Highly recommended to all Scubaboarders!
My friends are coming down from PA to dive with me.
Any tips/hints on finding good teeth?
There are many threads but some date back four or more years. Don't have a boat and gather that more teeth may be found offshore than beach diving.

Thanks Bouyant1. That's just the info I was looking for.
Actually, Fort Zach has at least 3 websites:
Welcome to Florida State Parks
Fort Zachary Taylor
Fort Taylor.org - Welcome
Under "Activities," the official one says this:

Having looked through these threads for info on diving Key West, mostly I've found lists of dive shops and locations.
My question is more subjective: How is the diving around Key West?
It's important to me because I am considering a job opportunity there.
My former instructor tells me...
My Biller is rigged for line shafting but all I've ever done is free shaft. Most of the guys on the boat I go out on freeshaft. Rarely do they lineshaft. But I have been spearfishing for less than a year and haven't shot any giant monster fish. I hunt hogs, grouper and snapper. I'll admit I...
Thanks Haiko. You are a better Googler than me. I wonder what happened? The story I got sounded like he was lineshafting and somehow got wrapped around a piling, but I have no idea whether that is correct. Condolences to the family.
Someone told me they saw a story on the news about a spearfisherman in Boca Grande FL getting entangled on a piling and drowning after shooting a grouper last weekend. Nothing I can find on Google. Anyone know anything about this?
Err, umm ... to return to pointless and ridiculous ...
A Shetland pony walks into a bar and orders a beer.
The bartender says, "Are you feeling OK today?"
The pony says, "Yeah, why?
The bartender says, "You're a little hoarse."
I keep wanting to try that Epcot dive, but then when I get dive time I always spend it in the real ocean. Is it worth the money, the time and missing out on a "real" dive?
That should help make for a happy new year!
January weather can be hit or miss. We had an unusually cold winter last year with lots of storms. Hopefully this coming January will be better!
Hey, if anyone in the Clearwater FL area is looking for a good boat to dive with, you can't do better than Capt. TJ Shea with 2Shea charters. He caters to spear fishermen but also runs great trips for recreational divers or even hook-and-line fishermen.
And in case you are wondering, no I am...
