    Mola mola season in Bali?

You're best bet may be to speak to people when you are there. I think I am right in saying that you are a little early for the Mola Mola season, but you will be sure to meet other divers and dive pros who have been diving Nusa Penida recently who can give you the very latest advice. In my...

    Test your diving knowledge....

This is a little competition rather than a game, but we thought is might be popular with Scubaboarders..... Here's how it works. Each day for 50 days, we'll be posing a question about diving on our website. Answer the question correctly and you'll be entered into the draw to win a dive safari...

    Which underwater camera to buy?

I agree that in the beginning, until your diving skills are more embedded, uw photography can be a little tricky. That said, Backscatter have a really good annual Point&Shoot awards feature, which you can read here. I was asked by a friend to do a bit of research on good cheaper models for uw...

Rules for Scuba Diving's 2010 Photo Contest - OUCH!

blimey.. what's the next line on their terms and conditions, the keys to your house? ...and after a condition like that, where might the publication of an underwater photo be prohibited by law, I am wondering.

Directory of Scuba Shops in Phuket?

We try our best our keep it as up to date as possible. It relies to some extent of course on dive centres keeping it up to date. I checked that you're listed Steven, if you know of other business that aren't and would like to be, just let me know or direct them here.

    Oceanic Focus Any experience with

I've used them quite a few times and can recommend them. Prices are normally excellent and service is not bad either. They also sell Ikelite products under the banner 'Ikelite Asia'.

Whats your favorite Marine Life or Scuba Diving Movie/Documentary

The recent BBC 'Life' series is amazing. There are a couple of episodes for fish geeks. Ep 4 is all about fish and Ep 8 is called about Creatures of the Deep.

    Canon G11 or Sea&Sea DX-2G

I would probably opt for the G11 too, but it's worth noting that the housing for the Sea&Sea model appears to be much more sturdy then Canon's own housing and my guess is that it would probably last longer. There are of course a few other housings available for the G11, but they are a little...

    Unspotted Whale Shark

I'm no scientist, but I think there is only one species of Whaleshark, meaning any that didn't have spots would be just a one off freak of nature. As they're migratory, I would guess it would be incredibly difficult to track on down. The best bet would be to speak to those in well known...

    Koh Kraden Wreck?

Hi Ken, I dived what we believe to be that wreck last year. For me, it's not a worthy dive site, at least on that day. Bad vis, riping currents, what was left of the wreck had collapsed and it was covered in fishing nets. The vis was so bad and the currents so strong that it was actually quite...

    Where to go now?

That's a tough question to answer as there are so many must see places in Asia that you could spend a life time exploring them all. To get you started though, here's a few ideas for big stuff.... and little stuff.

Komodo or Palau Liveaboard over Xmas?

I haven't been lucky enough to dive in Palau yet, but I can recommend Komodo. It's interesting for a lote more than macro stuff - the reefs are stunning and it is probably most famous for big fish encounters, especialy Sharks & Mantas. Most people dive it on a Liveaboard from Bali, but it is...

    Stuck flat port

Thanks for the advice. The G9 I'm very happy with, although it doesn't have the wise lens of the G10 & 11. The housing is generally good, especially for the price, but if I had more money though, I'd probably go for the Patima housing.

Day trips from Phi Phi to Hin Daeng/Hin Mounag?

If you haven't decided on your location, you could also consider Ko Lanta as well. It's further south, so it is a little bit closer to Hin Daeng & Hun Muang. There's around 18 dive shops on the island and almost all of them make regular trips. You can get more info on all of your options in our...

Koh Lanta - Dive Site Difficulty

Steve, There are plenty of sites that you can get to and both enjoy. Ko Haa has great diving and most dive centres on the island also visit the Bida Islands and other sites around Ko Phi Phi. All these sites can be dived and enjoyed by novice and experienced divers alike. Pretty much the only...

    Stuck flat port

I have an Ikelite housing for the Canon G9. I regularly take off the flat port and give it a good clean. This time, stupidly, I seem to have done it too tight and it is now stuck. I have tried brute force, to the extent of bending the tool that Ikelite provide for removing the port. I have...
