    Trip Report Gozo

HI, I assume you were based in Gozo. Could you please tell me which shop you dived with and if you thought they were good. Did you stay in Dive shop accommodation or elsewhere? Thanks!

Trip report: French Polynesia April 2019

Look, we dived walls at 20 m and saw plenty of fish, corals etc. We did that when we couldn’t get into the passes, or when irritatingly we were attached to a group of day trippers off a cruise who the dive shop wouldnt let do a pass dive. It basically depends how many times you end up doing...

Trip report: French Polynesia April 2019

Well that depended on the dive to be honest. Some spots very close, but often it’s just the sheer number of sharks which is impressive. Don’t forget you could be diving in some very strong currents, which may make handling a big camera more difficult. I didn’t see anyone diving with big...

    French Polynesia Oct 2019

I would check your LOB dive plan and see how many dives your plan to do in fakarava. If it’s not many then maybe stay longer, depending on availability of flights back to Papeete. However there is plenty to keep you busy on Papeete if you like exploring or fancy trying the tiger shark dives there.

    Looking for recommendations for Tahiti

Well that depends really where you LOB leaves from and where it’s going. But if you are doing the tuamotos you will dive rangiroa and both fakarava north and south. As I understand, the best place to see humpbacks is from Moorea. It’s a beautiful island also for hiking and hanging out. I’ve...

Trip report: French Polynesia April 2019

In Munich there is a travel agent specialised in south sea travel. Here is a link to FP and basically shows you the majority of the accommodation available on each island. This is in German, but once you know the names, you can always google the places and find out more in English. www...

    Looking for recommendations for Tahiti

Definitely try to get to Fakarava South. If in Tahiti definitely dive the Vallee Blanche site. Plenty of other nice things to do on Tahiti and Moorea, aside from the diving.

Trip report: French Polynesia April 2019

Well it wasn't cheap, thats for sure. The flight alone from Europe was 2000 EUR, though partly because that was Easter. You can get the flight for much less. The inter-island flight pass adds on another cost. We decided to just to go to the Tuamotos and not go to Bora Bora, because adding...

Trip report: French Polynesia April 2019

It was around 19-20 April. Not sure about moon but it may have been a full moon. Though I guess you can look that up.

French Polynesia, who to dive with?

I just wrote a trip report in this forum if that helps your planning at all. We dived with top dive except in Fakarava south, where we dived with the team at Tetamanu Village - they were awesome. We decided to miss out on BB completely, as we didn't want the honeymoon vibe and had heard the...

Polynesia Livaborad - June vs October

Hi, to be honest I would recommend you to do land based diving rather than a LOB. It works out as better value than the Master LOB, we did 16 days for not much more than 1 week on the LOB. I have also not heard any really great reviews from people I know who have been on the boat or from some of...

First time Fakarava - do I have enough time?

By the way there is a very good chance to see whales in September. If you don't see them there you can easily see them in Moorea / Tahiti.

Trip report: French Polynesia April 2019

Just returned from an awesome dive trip in FP and thought someone may appreciate a bit of info! We flew into Tahiti from Europe via LA with Air New Zealand / Air Tahiti Nui. We bought an inter-island flight pass, which gives you +5kg allowance if you show your diving certs. Very handy! We...

First time Fakarava - do I have enough time?

I just got back from Fakarava. I think Manuel Sam gives you all the valid info you need. Do NOT miss the southern pass, it is absolutely amazing world class diving. So many sharks, so many fish, such a cool drift, beautiful corals. I'd say this was among the best diving I've done to date. I also...

    Moalboal vs Anilao or PG?

If you fly to Cebu, its a just a few hours drive to Moalboal, so very easy to get there. There are many different types of resorts there, from backpacker to more upscale. The sardine school is amazing to see. You are a short trip to pescador island and other good dive spots also. You can...

Best place to retire in the Philippines with great shore and boat diving?

The guys at Easy Diving in Sipalay are building a retirement community above their resort. The diving is nice, the location is nice. Its a few hours drive from Bacalod or Dumaguete, but you can access all kinds of diving from there. May be worthwhile to contact the owner Christian, at Easy Diving.

Trip report: Easy Diving Coron, wrecks and barracuda lake

Hi! The viz was pretty good, maybe 15-20m. It wasn’t super clear, lots of particles. But a tropical storm had gone through a few days earlier so maybe it is better at other times. It was good in barracuda lake obviously!

Trip report: Cabilao island, Visayas and Polaris dive resort

Hi! The beach is quite small directly in front of the resort but it’s perfectly fine for kids to play on an snorkel etc. I expect it’s nicer to lie in the garden above the beach though. Or at the big pool, which would be great for kids. Yes, we came back between dives as the dive sites are all...

Trip Report: Infiniti Liveaboard Malapascua Leyte route, January 2019

Glad you like the reports. I didn’t know too much before my trip and got lots of feedback here. However, I wasn’t aware that most visayas stuff was the same same but different. So I’ve done it now, and that’s fine. Other things to do in the future!!

Trip Report: Infiniti Liveaboard Malapascua Leyte route, January 2019

If you compare the value for money with diving from land in Philippines no comparison. If you compare value for money compared to Indonesia or Egypt per day no comparison. You can do apo reef and coron without LOB for way less money.
