    New exhaust valve leak

Yep, tension is good, I even set it a bit tighter than normal. The entire inside surface where it mates with the suit is sealed with aquaseal. Only thing I can think of, is the small gap between the valve assembly and the threaded portion is leaking? But it's a press fit and the water is...

    New exhaust valve leak

Yep! Thought about that one, but his valve is so glued in place, it would probably damage something taking it out. Since his suit works and doesn't leak, I was hoping that I wouldn't make two bad suits by messing with it.

    New exhaust valve leak

Oh sorry, it's a SiTech standard profile model.

    New exhaust valve leak

Howdy. So I have a 2013 ish purchased Seasoft XV-4 drysuit that developed a leak in the right wrist area. It started very small, just a bit of dampness, but then got worse and worse over time. I had stopped diving for a few years and when I took it out to continue diving, did several leak tests...

    Scary bad Advanced diver.

Ya know what's funny, I've had similar experiences as well. I've been diving with a bunch of people who were "vacation" divers, who literally had no idea how to dive. Forget about gear prep, very few people do that properly anyway. I'm talking about what they do on and under the water. Bouncing...

How soon to take AOW after OW?

One of the big problems is the lack of decent education in many basic OW courses. Some instructors gloss over some critical things like PROPER buoyancy and weighting, expecting you to come back and learn those things properly at a later date. Not saying all instructors do this, but it's pretty...

My favorite "get wet" place: Hathaways Pond

There are many places in New England to go when your bored and just wanna get wet. However, my favorite place is Hathaways pond down in Barnstable. Fresh water is great because you don't have to clean your gear. It's a cool place because fellow divers have put in a lot of "attractions" from an...

    Questions on drysuit and undergarments

It says on your profile that you have maybe 24 dives under your belt. If that's correct, I'd personally hold off on dry suit diving in warm water until you find the right wet suit combination. I've done A LOT of diving in Florida and I'm a super thin and light weight guy who hates being cold. On...

    Seasoft VX-4 Review and information

So when you raise your arm up dumping air from your BC/Wing, it's dumping from the highest place of the suit as well. Not a bad concept, but it doesn't work well when your dive profile is up and down at lot. Someday I'll put on a shoulder valve and just keep the wrist one as well.

    Seasoft VX-4 Review and information

I'm digging up an old thread, dusting it off to give my one year update on my VX-4 ownership. I've been diving quite a lot in the last few months, working on an underwater documentary series. It feels like I've owned this suit for years. For me, the suit has been invaluable in so many ways. I...

    Diving Instructor for one year?

My parents and most of my family work in education, so I've been surrounded by educators my entire life. Everyone has to work up the ladder and most teachers do this during their education, whilst they are in college. Some do it after college, once they find a place to teach. But being an...

    Diving Instructor for one year?

Our society still survives on apprenticeships, we call them internships today. It's a very similar thing, only with a different name. Public school teachers generally spend years working up the ladder assisting with classes, making little to no money before they teach our children. So no, they...

    Diving Instructor for one year?

I went to a diving trade school for my IDC, they required 200 dives. I only decided to check the NAUI box after my education was finished because back then, PADI instructors had to be part of a shop and I worked independent of a shop. I train people in other disciplines and part of the...

    Diving Instructor for one year?

To me, it's sad just reading this kind of thread. I feel like becoming an instructor is no different then going to a trade school to become a car mechanic. Pay the money, take the course, now your certified to work. The only difference is that with SCUBA diving, there are people's lives on the...

Report: Catalina Dive Park Kelp May 15, 2015

Went out today to check the kelp status and it's looking good. Seems the stuff doesn't want to grow over 60 degrees because the moment I got below that thermocline, the kelp was everywhere on the south part of the park. I was shocked because in the center and to the left, it's simply not deep...

Changing dive op attitudes to "solo"

A very valid question and there is some research which shows that people who invest in equipment, tend to dive more then those who don't. The other side of the coin are vacation divers who constantly rent and because they're forced to make adjustments on a regular basis, they're use to it. I...
