Based on your interests, here are my recommendations= Donsol, Albay for whale sharks-- snorkling only. Two days snorkling should be enough. Here's most of the info you'll need ALBAY TOURISM: Whale Sharks - Butanding. For lodging, go to Donsol Vacations, Tourism and Donsol, Philippines Travel...

Philippines Dive Notes, May 2012, Part 2. Malapascua

My very first dive destinations to the Philippines way back in 2005 were Tubbataha and Malapascua, a nice combination for opportunities to see big fish and small critters. This was after I have been to other places like Palau, Truk, Tahiti, Galapagos, etc.. After that trip, I realized the...

Philippines Dive Notes, May 2012, Part 3. Mactan, Cebu

Great report about above water attraction in Malapascua and diving off Mactan Island. I been to Malapascua in 3 very satisfying trips but have never dove Mactan. I'll try it the next time I'm in the Philippines. Thanks.

    Diving the Phillipines in March

For Macro- Go to Anilao, Batangas with Club Ocellaris. Afterwards cross the channel and go to Puerto Galera, Mindoro with Atlantis Resort. Or after Anilao, grab one of the liveaboards departing from Anilao to Tubbataha for the pelagics with Expedition Fleet. You can also catch the liveaboards in...

Anilao resorts: Club Ocellaris contact info, or similar alternative

Stayed in different places when I was in Anilao the previous 3 times. Can't go wrong with Club O as they know what, where, when, why, and how about underwater photography. Just avoid the top-most cottage. My buddy and I are both photo enthusiasts and were very satisfied with our guide, Mark...

    Club Ocellaris Feedback?

I've been to Anilao 3 times (stayed with Club Ocellaris and Dive 7000) and Puerto Galera twice (stayed with Atlantis). Can't go wrong with either one but the divemasters in Club Ocellaris are unbeatable in spotting critters for you. If you are not in to underwater photography yet, this is the...

Thanks for the pictures and videos. When did you go to Maldives? I am wondering if there are certains months of the year when sightings of pelagics are more frequent.

    Suggestions

hi, I found out long time ago that a resort or dive destination is only as good as the divemasters. Do you have any recommendations for a particular divemaster/s who are exceptional spotters in finding critters and other marine life in Anilao (resort based or freelancing)? I am deep in to...

Malapascua Best Time and Which Resort

For my 1st serious (meaning multi-day, multi-dive) dive trip to the Philippines, I went to Tubbataha and Malapascua and both were very satisfying. I have been to Malapascua 3 times in all and to me the best time to go would be between March and June. Malapascuai is outside the typhoon belt which...

    Truk/Yap-shoreside or liveaboard?

Just got back from the Odyssey today. It has the most spacious accomodations among 9 different liveaboards I've been to. Except for one cabin, there are no bunk beds. 4 day dives were offered plus one night dive daily except for 3 dives on the last dive day. We saw dive boats from resorts on...

Anilao end of May - June 2010; info please

Good luck on your trip! Insist on a dive spotter rather than just a divemaster who is there for the dive. Post your pictures when you can.

Why our Dive Industry does not get too much exposure in North America?

I believe exposure and recognition of what the Philippines has to offer for divers have taken big strides, at least here in the US northeast (NewYork, New Jersey, Connecticut area). Proof of this is during the 2009 & 2010 Beneath the Sea shows (the largest dive show in the US), there were 6...

Excess Baggage some good news ..

Is the SportsPlus package (with Philippine Airlines) available for purchase when you check in for for domestic flights, at the time of purchase of plane tickets, or any time in between? Is available online or only at a PAL sales office? Could it be used repeatedly (say for a period of one year)...

    Ikelite Rocks!

In my experience, a strobe constantly firing is due to a faulty sync cord. Contact Ikelite and discuss the problem with them. In the past, the Ikelite company replaces the whole cord at half of the MSRP rather than repairing it, every time I send a faulty one to them.
