I use it a lot in the 4" dome. I think it's great for underwater use.

A couple of years ago, I had visited Austria for a diving trip the first time. I was really impressed! So I had to return for a second trip in August last year for some mountain lake diving. Water temperature is very low (around mid 40s) but the visability is cristal clear. The lake is called...
Hi guys,
I just want to share some pics from my vacation to the Maldives last year. Vis was very bad so I couldn't take as much pictures as I would have liked.
I used my Olympus OMD EM-5 with a Nauticam housing with either a 8mm FE or a 12mm lens and a single Inon Z240 strobe.
Cheers
That is an interesting topic as I went down exactly that route. So I'll share my personal experience with ISE and GUE.
Two or three years ago, I only did rec dives and wanted to improve my diving skills. While I had no specific interest in tech diving, I played with the idea of cave diving...
Ok I am back and had a blast. 13 days of cave diving, it was awesome!! I'll try to give a report later this week.
Anyways, here are my thoughts after the trip: I went dry and my team mate went wet. We had relatively bad weather with lots of rain and often cloudy. I felt very good in my dry...
Thanks! I am really looking forward to the training and I know it won't be a walk in the park ;) My instructor will be Harry Gust who seems to be absolutely unknown in this board but has a very good reputation over here in Germany. I hope this will be a good decision to go with him in the end. I...
Thanks for the input! I am very excited about the trip and can't wait to finally start the training.
I get cold easily and dive dry exclusively at home which is probably 90% of my total diving so I am not new to diving dry. However I tried diving wet on my last diving trip and came to the...
I am going to visit Mexico in a couple of weeks to finally start my cave diver training :D I am wondering if I should go with my dry suit or take a wet suit. I read mixed opinions on that regarding cave diving in Mexico.
What would you recommend and why?
Thank you,
cheers!
No offense taken ;) Now I am honestly curious: Do you remember in which situations you are supposed to manipulate your mono tank valve with respect to your training? (well besides the situation in which you jump in from a boat with a valve shut off which I believe is relatively easy to prevent...
Depending on the cylinder size, with a single tank setup there is often no way I can reach my own valves and I have not seen anyone who can given a specific cylinder size - especially when standing on my feet while on land / on a boat deck (for example with a short 12l tank, there is no chance...
I can't say I see a significant difference between american and european divers in general but then again I've not seen that many american divers underwater to make an assessment. All I can say is that there is hugh difference in skill level across european divers as well (which doesn't seem...
Thanks for providing more information on your dive and continuing the discussion on this!!
But still I don't think many jumped into conclusion based on their definition of your dive. According to your description, you did a staged deco dive with more than 10 minutes mandatory deco obligation to...
Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that 100 dives magically turn a diver in a competent tec diver. Still the number of dives is an indicator of experience (even a better one than certifications IMO; I'd generally rather dive with someone who has 250 dives and OWD certification than with a diver...
Congrats on the MSD! :cool2:
GUE Fundies requires a minimum age of 16 while the Primer only requires the student to be 14. Maybe you should go Primer first. BTW, I second the concerns about doing a tec dive with a 14 years old without having the training and with less than 100 dives.
I understand that it is probably good practice for a DM to somewhat verify that their customers have turned air on before jumping in. I respect this and I don't have any problem with. On the contrary, the help is definitely appreciated.
For me, on the other hand, it is very important at what...
Thanks Phil!
I was quite suprised how much I liked the 12mm for underwater use (which I love for above water anyways). It will produce some soft corners behind the 4.3" dome but the images are definitely useable nonetheless. A dedicated port might be very interesting.
Hi there,
I just want to share my excitement about my new setup with you. I previously used a P&S camera (a Panasonic Lumix LX3) in auto mode with no strobe and recently upgraded to an Olympus OM-D w/ Nauticam housing and a single Inon S-2000 external strobe. I did my first six dives last week...
