I believe its about 60'ish bucks round trip to get to Catalina from Long Beach, look at 50'ish for rentals, and if you are staying near Casino Point there look at 120 (average, what I paid this time last year) a night for lodging. I'm not sure if thinks is too much or more than you were...

And on a side note, after talking to our trip organizer, it seems a handful of divers from AZ backed out due to the "shark scare"... It sure is sad when things like this get blown way beyond proportion, it seems to only affect the tourists, the locals never seem worried and continue to dive /...

I'll be diving south of long beach here in a few weeks, and although I believe you are more likely to get hit by lightning then attacked by a great white, it still gives me the creeps knowing those massive prehistoric things are swimming around somewhere near. Yikes.

I won't be going, unless I can find someone that has done it before to go with. Would be good times! Any takers?

Great video for that little HD recorder! Which underwater housing unit are you using? The ones I see online say "up to 30 feet"! Is that deep enough for you?
