    ScubaBoard's Fallfest Megadive 2017

Alright, I'm going to try to make it to this for the weekend--I'll give a look through the thread and try to figure out what supplies might still be of use.

Lessons Learned on a Tropical Dive Trip

Warning, Long Post Hello everyone, Yesterday I returned from a 6 day trip to Caye Caulker, Belize. Rather than just doing a detailed trip report of all of the dives we did, I thought it would be better to talk about some of the things I learned instead. I've broken it down into sections to...

    New gear purchase survey 2010

In 2010 my purchases thus far include: Sporasub Mystic Mask: I wanted a freediving mask, as I'm starting to get gradually more into freediving, and it was the best fitting/most comfortable freediving mask I could find. It's also extremely low Volume. IST SN36 Snorkel: Wanted a simple...

    Apocalypse Rebreather

My main instructor has one. I think hollis bought Steam Machines, and that they're working on the Prism 2, but I never payed too much attention too it, so That may not be completely accurate. I'm sure someone else can give better details.

    Apocalypse Rebreather

If you're curious about it, go read the rebreatherworld forums. I'm not sure what the mods have and haven't removed, but there's more than you could possibly want to know there. But pretty much everything that's been said so far has been the case.

    Master Scuba Diver Certification

At least in my experience for NAUI master diver, there wasn't really much pool work. Emergency procedures/rescue have pool practice from previous courses. If you'd like me to, later I might be able to write up a course report on my MSD course, but it was last year so I'll have to check my...

    Master Scuba Diver Certification

Just to offer an alternative, NAUI's master diver is a complete course going much more in depth on equipment, physics, physiology, and skills. To my understanding it was designed with the intent of giving a diver all of the skills and knowledge of a divemaster or instructor except for the...

Peformance Freediving International 2010 Course Dates up

Of course the Intermediate course in San Diego is the week after my spring break. Oh well, I'll find a course that I can take some day.

One more question!! For now :)

In that case, you most likely would have been quite overweighted when you jumped in the pool, as A. you no longer had the buoyancy from the wetsuit, and B. You need less weight in fresh water than salt to begin with.

What kind of diver are you?

6/8. I dive whenever possible, currently only recreationally. However, my gear is gradually becoming more and more technical , and I know that I will end up doing technical dives later in my diving career.

    Creepy things found diving

Last time I was diving at La Jolla Shores we saw some huge Sheepheads, all throughout the dive........oh wait, those are fish :D Haven't seen anything too creepy...a dead bat ray was about it.

    freediving help?

Let's see. First, equipment: Are you diving with or without fins? Obviously technique will be different in either case. Longblade fins help, but I don't really think they're necessary to be able to make it 26 ft. Are you wearing a wetsuit? Make sure you're properly weighted. Now: Breathe Up: In...

What Spearfishing Gear To Get First?

That was pretty much all what I figured. The only thing that seemed new was the idea of an open cell suit helping with the breathe up. And yes, I still need to get to Freedive Shop and James & Joseph. So far the only Freediving/spearfishing shop I've been to was the Spear Shack, though some...

What Spearfishing Gear To Get First?

Well, after being a relatively new scuba diver, I am now starting to get into some Freediving and Spearfishing. Due to the fact that these generally use different gear, there's quite a bit more gear I need for spearfishing and freediving stuff. As far as I can tell, i'll need: Wetsuit...

    Comparison of all agencies

I said there were plenty of others. For example, I also didn't put CMAS or AUSI. My point was just to ask if he really wants to compare ALL agencies or just the bigger names.

A few questions on specialty courses

Quick update since my last post. Made the La Jolla Cove dive I mentioned, did another night dive (saw a 2 and a half foot ish horn shark), and two dives today. Thus, my AOW is complete, as is my Nitrox course (got the Nitrox card today, should get Advanced Scuba Diver cards in a few days)...

    Comparison of all agencies

Just curious, but by ALL agencies do you truly mean all or just the basic, major agencies. If you really want to do all of them, you have a lot of work to do with: ANDI PADI NAUI SSI SDI/TDI/ERDI GUE UTD IANTD IDEA MDEA NACD (Cave Diving) YMCA NSS-CDS (Cave Diving) PSAI PDIC And...

A few questions on specialty courses

I think the U/W Hunting course goes into spear fishing stuff, but I suppose it depends who's teaching it as well. The night dive tonight was great. Much more life than I've seen in La Jolla Shores in the day time. Lot's of small fish, crabs, several octopi ranging from small to somewhat...

A few questions on specialty courses

Quick update, took my nitrox lecture yesterday, completed the test today. It will be graded today before a dive I'm making tonight (night dive portion of Advanced Scuba Diver course), which will be on EAN32 (technically the tanks have 32.6% O2 in them right now). Still curious about UTD Vs...
