Dive Buddy wanted for NE Coast dives

Hi, It looks as if I'm going to spend the weekend of October 25/26, 2014, in Taipei. I should be able to bring most of my dive gear, and NE Taiwan sounds like an option. This doesn't need to be a prime spot, I'm happy even in our crappy quarries :-) But without being able to read in your...

How many of you have had a dive computer fail?

I had three dead computers in seven years. First and Oceanic Geo, second an UWATEC, and just recently my UEMIS. All of them failed in the middle of a dive. I always take two since the second failure!

Drysuit divers - End of nightmare with catheter removal!

I've been told to try cutting it open from the bottom and then tearing it apart. Now standing there with a knife attacking your plumbing feels a bit creepy, but most of the time it helps a bit to reduce the pain. But I too agree that I rather have secure Rochesters than a very cold dive, a...

    Trouble with SDA after flying

... so the flight mode worked in practice. 12h flight, diving, and 11h back worked without any problems.

    Synchronization doesn't work anymore

Uninstalling 7.45 and then installing 7.25 really fixes the issue. Fortunately I could still find the 7.25 installer in my Downloads Folder because I couldn't find a way to download it from Java.com. After sync I updated to Software 1.21 which fixes the flight problems, was really easy and fast.

    Trouble with SDA after flying

Yes, I've installed it and could enable the flight mode without any problems. Now it's just that stupid Java 7.45 issue they need to fix again, but anyway, it's really good news that they're working on things!!

    Synchronization doesn't work anymore

Title says it all, I can't upload and synchronize anymore since last Sunday. There is an error message after it starts Java, and that's it. Does it work for you?

    Diving Deutschland!

I'm with you guys, too. @Kokeldil: I agree with your description of taucher.net... Anyway, I'm diving all year round, as long as the water stays liquid. But I've also done it after cutting a whole :-) But I've never done one of these indoor pools yet. @ludwigsv: Untergrombach may not be the...

    drysuit

I bought a Bare just recently, and it's certainly the best I ever had. They've got many different standard sizes in their program. In any case, if you really consider tech diving then better be aware that even a thousand EUR adder for a good a dry suit doesn't make that much of a difference on...

    Where did you dive today?

Still winter in Germany, water in the lakes at 3-4°C. Lake Constance, 1h, lots of deco. Uneventful, but still nice.

    Where did you dive today?

52min in a quarry in Mannheim, Germany. Water 4°C, air about 2°C. Viz not great, but OK. One sleeping fish, one crawdad (zumindest sagt LEO das zu Flusskrebs :-) )

    Geo Mode Button Inop

I had already bought an Oceanic VT3 and wanted to use the Geo as backup device, or even bottom timer. Therefore it was especially annoying that I couldn't switch modes through the software either.

    Geo Mode Button Inop

Feels good not to be alone (not!): same here. The "don't eat batteries fix" cost me 65 EUR, and shortly after the button was stuck. I decided to dump it :depressed:

    weekend of diving from Singapore

All the dive operators stop diving roughly between November and March because of the rainy season. Gotta look for something else, but Singapore is great for shopping, eating, the zoo, gambling and so on.

Buy a Dive Watch - Yes or No?

I fully agree. On top of that, it's too small to read the details anyway in most real-world conditions.

    Oceanic Geo (Original Model) Issue

A while back I arrived at a very similar point when I decided to dump it. If you don't want to do that I guess your only chance is sending it to Oceanic and ask them to repair it. That doesn't come for free of course. How did you come to the conclusion that this dive computer should last more...

    Compasses and Geographical Zones

In the last 2-3 months I've used my only Oceanic compass in the Philippines, Germany, Florida and California and always found the boat or exit again. Good enough for me..

    Where did you dive today?

Local quarry in Southern Germany, 61min, max 22m, very pleasant temperatures (13°C) above 8m or so. Quite a difference to my last 4 dives which happened to be about 3 wks ago on the Philippines :-)
