Lets clear up a couple of issues here:
· Retesting plus rated tanks known as DOT-3AA, the plus rating can be re-applied for the life of the tank as long as it passes the protocol for a plus rated tank. Most re-testers are ill equip with the proper equipment and knowledge when it comes to this...
In my 22 years in the scuba industry and also being involved with product development, I would highly recommend that you keep all valve components all from the same manufacture, plus make sure the bands are designed for the brand of valve that you may be using.
I have attached our spec sheet, take a look at our HP-120 it is 3 lbs lighter than the alum 100 and holds 20% more air, plus at the end of your dive it stay negatively buoyant.
The OMS product (Faber) uses a two-component epoxy paint. It is my understanding that OMS sales a touch up kit, due to if this area goes un-attended it could develop external oxidation, once this starts it is difficult to stop. I would check with your local OMS dealer.
The chart of volumetric, compressibilty of gases, should be found in the following books.
Thermodynamic Properties and Reduced Correlations for Gases, Vol. 22

Thermophysical Properties of Gases and Liquids

The source of the value of 226.13scf (@3500psi) is US Steel Engineers Handbook for real gases which is stated in standard cubic feet (scf) compressed into one cubic foot of liquid volume at the given pressure. This formula stated is uses when the water capacity and service pressure in known...
Any AquaAire cylinder that fails hydro, PST should be notified so the tank can be evaluated. Since 1902 PST, has always stood behind the products we make. There are two supplemental Technical bulletins that pertain to our products. They can be retrieved from our web site http://www.pstscuba.com...
It is my understanding that PST is the only company that has ever hot dipped galvanized a scuba tank. The Asahi tank has been in the market place since 1998, and they have always been painted.
ti
Yes, it is Asahi. The reason it is not the preferred design is due to the method in closing the bottom of the tank. A tank made from tubing, the starting material look like a big drinking straw. Then one end is thermically closed. This area, which is in the bottom of the tank, can develop...

Thanks-
You used the word "standard" this means there is supporting documentation. I think you mean, "practice. I have been looking for the underlying reason why 40% was picked, there must have been some reason.
ti
Thanks for the info, it was my uderstanding that when the O2 level is depleted the corrison would stop, since there is no oxidating agent present. The time element would it be relevent to a scuba divers that stores his tank in the off season?
ti
Who would do the testing and certyifing?
PST makes medical and avaition oxygen cylinders. In the regulations that I have read, I cannot find anywhere where it states a criteria for a level of use at 40%. Who has stated that at 40% is where 02 cleaning starts. Any infomation regarding this...
If you are using a Luxfer tank with a Sherwood valve you are using two of the premium products in todays scuba market. List below is info that you can perform on the tanks before you send them off to be inspected.
Ø Drain the tanks completely.
Ø Remove the valve.
Ø Inspect the o-ring gland...
If the tanks started leaking as stated in your thread. I assume you saw bubbles coming from the tank/valve area. Them have a reputable local dive store take a look at it, asked them to use an o-ring specified by the valve manufacture. Have them fill it and check for bubbles.
If this is not...
