Rob Mills, Calgary Alberta, passes in Bonaire

Rob was the instructor that did my intro to tech course and first introduced me to sidemount diving back when the hollis SMS100 was still Loflin's prototype. He was intelligent, patient, and a damn good instructor. It is a great loss that the Alberta dive community has suffered by his passing. I...

    Hollis LED 25 Question

I bought my hollis 25W LED around july of this year and I love it! Nice spot with little bit of spill, does well in poor vis and has great battery life. If there is problems with the light, then I haven't had any with mine.

Does Red Cross Adult First Aid/CPR/AED Count towards PADI Rescue Diver?

Where I live many of the instructors are also Canadian Red Cross Instructors for this reason. The PADI EFR and the SDI CPROX are not recognized for the workplace.

    Ankle Fusion and Diving

In February I broke my ankle in three places that required the addition of a plate and 8 screws. after two months of recuperation I was back in the water and carrying around my double 120's without a problem. I have even completed a couple of deco dives in the last while without issues. I was...

Drawbacks of Sidemount, compared to backmount diving

In my opinion, all things being equal (if everything is ready and setup at the beach or boat, and mask, fins, hood, wetsuit/drysuit, etc is setup and on) Then I find that with BM I can throw the harness on stow my hoses and and everything is done. with SM, I find that attaching and bungeeing the...

Drawbacks of Sidemount, compared to backmount diving

+1 to the comments made by Dive-aholic... Kitting up is the big issue when you start, and it takes some time to get used to dealing with it, but as in all things it does get easier. Also, compared to backmount, there is more time spent at the beginning of the dive kitting up. With backmount...

    Your Best Instructor and Why:

Every Instructor I have ever dealt with deserves a thank you, because they all taught me something... But one in particular stands out... I won't say the name of the person who was my favorite instructor, because I know he wishes to remain nameless. He taught me that there is nothing in the...

    Aspiring Solo Diver

+1 to the awesome post by DD, and +1 to the post by DaleC. Much Like Dale, I started solo diving without certification, but with a mature and healthy respect for the fact that if I jumped into it cowboy style, I would die. A slow and honest progression is something that is possible, as I know I...

    Factitious Decompression?

What you are saying about the patient also sounds very similar to cases of munchausen's syndrome. I think I spelled that right.

    Waterproof Bodyzor/Bodytec undersuit feedback

Hey all, Just bought one of the bodyzor/bodytec undersuits on a whim, looking for some feedback. For those of you that own the suit. When did you get it? How many dives do you have using it? In what type of drysuit? How cold of water? What is your overall impressions of the undersuit...

Sidemount Photos from my DIY rig trials...

The rig looks pretty well tuned for a ~250.00 setup. I will definitely be working on something like that for teaching OW sidemounters. -- Travis
