What was your experience with covid testing turnaround time

If there is a Passport Health facility in your area I would look at them. I used them last July and was pleased with the turnaround time on the test and their knowledge of what each Country requires. Plus you could call them and actually talk to someone who could answer your questions.

Aggressor vs Carpe Vita vs Emperor Voyager

Bandos Resort is close by boat and they have a nice house reef and good boat sites to go to. When I was there, the PM boat dive didn't always happen because they did not have enough divers to justify it- that was in 2019. In 2021 I stayed there one night before going to the Carpe Vita and they...

Aggressor vs Carpe Vita vs Emperor Voyager

I have been on the Carpe Vita twice and the Carpe Novo once and both were well run LOBs. I was on the Carpe Novo last August and it was the first time they went out after the covid shutdowns and it went very smoothly. On the Vita- last January- everything was well done. I have back issues so I...

    Question about covid test

I was on the Carpe Vita boat and they made arrangements and those who needed testing were tested onboard and got the results the next morning. The medical staff motored out to the LOB. It was all very convenient for those who needed the tests.

How do cruises work? For divers..

All of the comments so far are 100%. I would also add that if you go on one the ships excursions, you will quite likely be with inexperienced divers- which may or may not suit you.

What countries are people traveling from?

I have been on two trips since the lockdowns started and have come across people from Britain, Holland, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland and the USA. Since then some of those countries have enacted strict lockdowns. The British people wanted to go back before their options to travel back...

Liveaboard vs Dive Resort for newbie divers?

It all depends on you. After your first trips you will know if an ideal vacation for you is dive, dive dive or dive, nap, lunch with mai tai etc. You won't know until you have done some trips. Also, are you fit and confident? If you are not fit, Galapagos might not work well for you. If you are...

Trip Report Carpe Vita Real Time Review: March 7-18, 2021 Trip to Maldives Deep South

I was on this itinerary on this boat in January and we saw mantas, eagle rays, lots of sharks, Napoleon wrasse. The diving was great with lots of schooling fish and variety. There were also a lot of divers on the boat that are into macro and they also were very pleased. We had 3 whale sharks...

    Tipping on Liveaboards

Another thing to consider- if you can. A lot of the crew members missed out on a good portion of their income last year and if the service warrants it and it will not hurt you financially- consider giving considerable more- 20-25%. These are not normal times and my observation on the two LOBs...

Covid-19 infection on a liveaboard at the Maldives

Why would anyone listen to Dr Fauci?

    Where To?

I would look at the Maldives. I am just now finishing up a trip with the Carpe Vita LOB part of the Carpe Diem fleet and they do a great job. The diving was great, the crew was excellent and the Maldives has a good infrastructure for getting the necessary tests that you may need to get home.

Liveaboard and social distancing for Covid-19

So how did the other passengers feel about the level of compliance with the rules on the Aggressor trip? Did the rules or lack of compliance to them create an unfriendly atmosphere on the trip? Did anyone come down with covid that you know of? Overall, how was the trip? Would you do it again or...

Liveaboard and social distancing for Covid-19

I do think it is only reasonable that if you become sick with anything on a LOB that you isolate yourself. I am sure the boats would be more than happy to help you with this by bringing food to your room and other necessities to keep you away from the other passengers, as much of the crew as...

    Sony RX100 VII video settings

I just bought one of these cameras and it has so many options on it. Has anyone shot video with it underwater using video lights( solas 3600s)-if so, could you tell me what settings you would recommend as a start. It looks like you can go full auto in movie mode but I see there is an underwater...

What should I do with a Bluefin HD housing I just got?

I would look on eBay and see. If the battery pods can easily be replaced and at what cost. If not, you can probably sell a lot of that stuff on eBay or some other site. People are often looking for parts on older equipment they are trying to keep using and it has surprised me how much people...

What should I do with a Bluefin HD housing I just got?

I have been using a Bluefin for another camera and if I were you I would not invest a lot of money into this. Changing the settings- if Light and Motion will even do it- is pricey. So if the camera isn't the type of camera you would like- move on. The lights are certainly usable. You don't say...

    Nauticam or Isotta Housing

I am researching my next video camera for a trip in January and would like to know the pros and cons for the two brands of housing. Both appear to be well made. I primarily want to shoot video- not still- and I am looking at the Panasonic LX10 and the Sony RX100 VII. I will have two lights which...

As we go back to diving

Yes the power inflator did stick open. I just was not quick enough to yank on the dump valve because my first thought was that I had done something wrong and I just needed to operate the valve handle correctly. It did not occur to me at first that my BCD was malfunctioning. Then I fumbled going...

As we go back to diving

I was fortunate and had an opportunity to dive last month and so I went. I had an issue however that I would like divers to consider as they resume diving. My gear sat in the closet- still packed and ready for a trip that got cancelled last March. So when it was time to go- I just grabbed it and...
